If we're going off those you listed, then I'd say Ayrton Senna or Roger Federer.

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.

Even though I only really recall the latter end of his career, it's Ali for me. Others have won more or dominated their sport more, but nobody has combined the talent, showmanship and durability the way he did.

I think the popular view would be Ali.

He was awesome at his sport, and an entertaining figure outside the ring.

    Same goes for Senna.

Federer is just a genius, and truly humble with it.

I'd put Ronnie O'Sullivan up there. Could watch him all day. Another genius.

And then there's Carl Lewis/Usain Bolt.

Each to their own with these debates.

Lance Armstrong, surely! No one has dominated a sport like him and come back from cancer. I can't believe you didn't mention him.

To be such a fantastic all rounder in cricket is almost like being world class at two sports, doesn't drop many catches either.

Babe Ruth - just the fact that between innings he would have a beer and a hot dog!

Difficult choice as there are so many worthy names from all sports but I'd have to say Ali.

Phil Taylor deserves a mention too. Darts isn't everyone's cup of tea but what he has achieved is unbelievable.

Phil "the Power" Taylor. Still playing at the top level in his 50's. No one has the longevity in any particular sport than Phil. Also there was this bloke in the early part of the 20th century who played football & cricket for England and won the long-jump at the Olympics. Forget his name
