Remember watching Brian many a time.

Having just lost my Dad with dementia at 84, my thoughts are with Brian's family and friends.

RIP, mate, and thanks for the memories.

Really sorry to hear of his passing

And his recent illness. Particular favourite of mine when I was a kid. His injury sustained in a 3-2 home win over Bradford City during the 1969/70 season possibly cost us a good chance of promotion back to Division 2. We never really recovered our form after that when playing Brian Sharratt (sp) instead, who was extremely poor in comparison.
    Sad news indeed.
    R.I.P. Brian

RIP Brian - legendary keeper - condolences to the family. Free transfer from S****horpe as I recall, but performed consistently well, and I seem to remember seeing him make his debut v Brentford in the promotion season. Didn;t have much to do that day, as we were 3-0 up in 15 minutes and coasted home from there. I do seem to recall also that he was himself something of an 'angel of mercy' in that he was transferred from Sheffield United to Chesterfield after their keeper, Powell, had been killed in a road accident. Anyone confirm that? One of our most reliable keepers and very agile and fit. Good professional in every way. RIP.
