I am sure you meant BRIAN Howard, but that is not why he left Barnsley at all, he left because a certain wa nk Welsh **** of a manager said we didnt need him, we had the little Spanish dwarf and Da Silva. He told the board not to offer Howard a new contract, then after Howard was told they were not giving him an extention to his contract he left, he could have stayed and gone for nothing at the end of his contract and got MORE MONEY in a signing on fee, so he did not leave just for more money at all and was not a greedy ******* , just a disillusioned player that went from being bandied around for £10 million, to being told he was not wanted.

'yes, because you'd never leave one job for another, for more money.'

I'm sick to death of this bl**dy idiotic argument. These people live in a totally different world to any of us, overindulged and with every possible advantage, there's literally no way we can ever compare their 'career' with any of ours.

I'm doing ok in my line of work, however I'd be willing to bet that at Oakwell Craig Davis probably earned roughly twice as much in a week as I do in a month, and for what? Training a bit and playing competitive matches once or twice a week? Yeah he's got just the same kind of stressful, complex professional life we all have.....

If he'd stayed with us for another four years on what he was earning (and beyond), on top of what he's taken already from the game, he'd have easily been made for life. But no, he'd much rather p*ss off to another struggling Championship club with clearly no guarantee of first team football. Still, at least he knew he'd be getting (at least) double the money on offer at Oakwell. F*ck his professional pride and anything resembling integrity, everything's got a price, and thanks to our hotshot negotiators his was a pitiful £300k.

And all that after he'd publicly declared about three months earlier that he was really happy at Oakwell, would benefit from settling down at the club having moved around so much in the past, and was eager to sign a new contract. He's a greedy ungrateful mercenary piece of sh*t.

Be careful mate, that argument sounds a bit left of centre to me. You bleeding heart liberal.

Not sure how my views on the greed/selfishness of one professional footballer necessarily bring you to that conclusion. Care to expand?

Not really. It was a lighted hearted comment that I hoped would make you smile. Clearly I failed.

Ah, it didn't come across as particularly light hearted, you really need to work on your delivery.

Of course if it had it would have raised a smile.

Don't know how it could have been taken any other way. I think it's fair to say that your views are right of centre and you take exception to the loony left. I think it's also fair to say that greed is generally perceived as being as far away from the loony left as you can get. Rightly or wrongly it tends to be attributed to those whose politics are right of centre. So when you condemned such ideologies I thought I'd rib you a bit for taking such a stance.

No malice intended and I don't think the delivery was far off either. I suppose it depends if you think people are waiting to have a go at you or are just posting for a bit of a laugh. For future reference I definitely fall in to the latter category.

Would say again, there's no way we can compare Craig Davies with any of our situations, they are literally worlds apart. However if you mean we'd all have behaved similarly had we been professional footballers in the same position, then I'm sorry you think this. Perhaps that's just the saddest indictment on the game of all. I'd like to think I would have been smart enough to consider the bigger picture and understand when I was well off, rather than leaving a club where I was clearly wanted and had a first team role at the first (possibly only) sniff of more cash. Then again when it comes to sport I'm a romantic and a traditionalist. Craig Davies however is an ungrateful mercenary piece of sh*t.

You're quite right, it was definitely my paranoia rather than your post. However have no fea,r as I shall remember in future that your posts are always made for a bit of a laugh, should make things easy.

Anyway it's too late to debate the rights or wrongs of left wing politics, although one glance at the affairs of the various Labour/Lib Dem MPs in parliament, or indeed their party's donors, will of course quickly debunk the myth that greed is the reserve of those on the right of the political spectrum.

However I digress. What I rewant to ask is do you, like me, consider Hard Rain to be a little gem of an action film? I've just watched some of it again on BBC2 and realised how much I like it.
