On a serious note, very interesting what Brighton are doing. These are not new ideas, and fans have been crying out for these things for years. All Clubs need to do is listen. It's that easy. But for some weird reason they don't. They continue this mentality that they know best, fans must be kept at the ground for as little time as possible and charge as much as they can get away with
Which is why it is such a mystery that more clubs do not offer the extras to improve the matchday experience in the way that Brighton are doing. Not rocket science.
And it would be so so easy to make a start. Preedy's is already there. Scrap the fee, open it from 12-7. Would cost nothing to do and could be implemented immediately. Absolute no-brainer. Why hasn't this happened???
Brighton must be doing something right but regardless of any initiative our fans would not pay £39 to watch us in the championship.
you're dead right there. brighton have a unique catchment area. lots of people, with lots of money. that has to be part of the success
Which is why we need to increase the matchday experience at well. Its all very well saying spend everything on team building but we need to attract and maintain increse in crowds. A new and improved scoreboard and tvs on concourse better food and drink etc The dinasaurs wont accept it but its a big part in whats now needed for the modern slupporter if the future.
The challenge is that all this costs money. Fans need to accept that to create all of that, needs investment. Which takes away from the player budget. Still don't get the scoreboard thing...do you really want to look at adverts & the line up all match? That said, if it has a permanent giant image of Bobby's head on it during every game, i'm in.
i'd still argue the case that brightons upsurge in attendences is more to do with the new stadium and the recent promotions,i'd bet my house on a fall in attendences if they go through a bad spell.I take my hat off to the supporters thats continually followed them over the last decade or so,but lets face it the club has been virtually reformed and rebranded on the back of some serious investment,in an area of the country that hasnt been decimated by losing all its major employers.
Bang on. Interesting how they compared Brighton's admission prices with Millwall's being "only" £30. I would also be interested to know how much various clubs' admission prices are proportionally to incomes in the area.
Thats the problem. You cant see it enhancing the experience personally i probably feel same but the fact is its those people that do we need to attract. Its not about preaching to the converted that is simply not emough things have to be tried
Brighton are a bad example for the BBC to give about a club dealing with declining attendances when they are up like 200% on their old ground.
Brighton are a terrible example. Rich population, no local competition, and a huge investment chasing the Premiership team. Go back in 5 years time when the novelty has worn off and see how far a bit of customer service has got them then...
