I know Wimbledon F.C. was relocated the 64 miles to Milton Keynes and the club is now known as M.K.Dons.
But why are some folk going to boycott the Barnsley F.C./M.K. Dons F.A.C. match.

Yes I'm going - I've driven past the stadium a few times and it looks brillaint and like everywhere else in Milton Keynes, easy to get to.

Because they are a franchise and shouldn't have been allowed to do what they did. They shouldn't exist and quite a few fans up and down the country feel quite strongly about their existence as a league football club.

What's a franchise when it comes to football clubs?

Because, as you already stated, the club was moved, against the wishes of the fans and relocated in a town 60 miles away. Tell me how you would feel if that happened to BFC. If you don't feel that is a problem and don't wish to boycott MK Dons then that is your perogative, but respect those that do.

Well in a nutshell Milton Keynes gained a football club through the backdoor - they basically took an existing club, and started 'trading' as a new club under the banner of the old club. They went from having no club to having one practically overnight while the real club ended up in the Southern counties league (or something similar). This was done against the wish of the fans of the club and shouldnt have been allowed to happen.

I think the FA accept it was a big mistake an it would never happen again, still doesn't excuse the fact that thousands of Wimbledon fans lost their club and had to start again in an amateur league while MK, despite not having a team, were allowed a leg up to start in the football league.

If it was a league match I wouldn't consider going, but probably will go to the cup game seeing as the revenue is split

Not only that, local businesses lost money, community lost it's heart, assets (of which admittedly were few) were lost.

Winkleman came on board and ignored everything the fans wanted. Funnily, his company built the new 'Stadium MK'. The *******.

We're currently getting a higher attendance in league 1 than WFC were getting in the premier league. What was going to happen to that club? No support, no backing, merton council didnt give f.ck, no investment and homeless sharing a ground with Crystal Palace for years.

You're opinion is based on what you have read in biased newspapers. Newspapers that are now acknowledging us as a successful football club. What happened in the past may be wrong (debatable) but its done a hell of a lot of good as well.

You do need to move on. It wasn't exactly a tragedy was it? AFC Wimbledon told everyone to boycott us, but did you see their away support? Hypocrites. Feel for Kingston Fc.

My penneth is, AFC Wombles will be wanting to us to dump MK Cons out of the FA cup and throw them off their stride in the league. The best way we can achieve that is with a healthy away support. We also have our our own existence to worry about as well. I've never been to a MK match and if it was a league game I would stay away. Or if I thought a boycott could prevent, overturn or reverse what happened to Wimbledon, I would fully endorse it.

I respect other opinions and I think the overall debate demonstrates the injustice football fans feel on behalf of that great little club.

    A good rule of thumb

Don't ask a question if you aren't bothered about what the answer is!

To add to what others have said: It's not just a Matter of what happened to Wimbledon either. If Milton Keynes needed a league team then they should've had to make their way through the leagues. The franchise effectively pissed on all the teams below and around them who have struggled to get into that position.

We now get arses like "Oakwell 87" coming on this board and gloating saying "get over it". No I won't. It's best not to forget what has happened in the past so as to stop it happening in the future.
