A few years ago Scotland would have been a great signing.
But he's coming from a club that is also in the relegation zone - so why would a club like that let a goalscorer leave ??? !!!
If he was any good these days I'm sure Ipswich would have kept hold of him to help them climb out of the s**t they are in

34 next month, if it's true that he is only here till the end of the season, & we are not paying him stupid wages. I think it's a good deal

Flicker says: "This is a guy who isn't interested in money, he just feels he has something to offer to a Championship team."

So I can't imagine he'll be on stupid wages.

Apparently Paul Jewell praised him last season for foregoing a wage increase to which he was due according to his contractual terms.

It seems fairly simple to me, Nudge

Ipswich have a number of strikers they can call on, we don't. Mick McCarthy doesn't rate him, Dave Flitcroft does. If our manager wants Scotland here and he wants to be here, that's good enough for me. Whether Scotland can deliver for us remains to be seen, but I'm not going to write him off before he's pulled on a shirt for Barnsley.

Some players just dont work out at some clubs, played out of position, not getting regular games due to manager preferring other players, not fitting into style of play etc. etc. Doesn't make him rubbish.

If he's really good in the hole he will be most useful to bring on to replace Dagnall, or rest Dagnall and play him from the start. Hopefully Flicker will get the best out of him. He seems like a good egg, so here's hoping.

I think his age is irrelevant.A certain John Hendrie was no spring chicken when he signed.

He is about as good as we are likely to be able to afford and he is available. Who knows if he will prove his worth, but it looks a reasonable deal both for club and player. Scotland gets to continue to play championship football and we get a proven goalscorer. If gets just some of the goals which keep us up, it will have been worth it. Not very tall at 5'6", but knows where the net is alright. Now we just need that commanding defender!

We spent three seasons saying Kevin Phillips was too old...as he was coming on as sub and scoring for fun.

Who'd have thought Marlon would be first choice? But we certainly need back up and strikers are hardly falling over themselves to join us, if you pardon the pun.

I don't think we have seen the last of Tommy Cywka, who I think could possibly do a good job playing off a big man. If you pardon the pun.

It will click for him here or it wont. Simple as that really. Good strikers have moved and failed, poor strikers have moved and improved instantly. We shall have to wait and see.

    Score goals throughout his career except for Wigan;

    1996–1997 San Juan Jabloteh 9 (9)
    1998–2002 Defence Force 31 (30)
    2003–2005 Dundee United 50 (8)
    2005–2007 St. Johnstone 66 (33)
    2007–2009 Swansea City 90 (45)
    2009–2010 Wigan Athletic 32 (1)
    2010–2013 Ipswich Town 87 (19)

Age is a load of B@ll@cks, if he's good enough it will do for me, He backs himself to score goals. SIMPLE

I for one will not cast judgement until we've had a good look at him.

Give him a chance... Who knows he may surprise some people!!!

Who would YOU have liked the club to sign?

I imagine he is probably the best option we could get plus it is a shrwed move in that it keeps another loan option open.

That's a very impressive goal-scoring record, and he could be a very good signing for us. I've a mate who's an Ipswich fan, and he rates Jason Scotland, and reckons he will find the net.

So as jagzz88 says, let's give the man a chance before we pass judgement.

I'm not so sure about this signing. I thought he had scored a lot more goals at this level or higher. He seems to have been more prolific in ale house leagues.
