I'm as sad as anyone to see him go (he hasn't defo gone yet mind) but one player doesn't make a team. £3M will mean alot to this club both if we stay up or go down. Ideally I'd like to see him stay at least another 12 months tho
Just a man doing a job. He is not a Barnsley supporter and he holds no financial interest in the club so yeah, do enough to balance the books and jobs a good un
Irrespective of it being acceptable or not we could and should be getting more. Different situation from the other recent transfers.
There was a strong possibility that we would be relegated with John Stones in the side. We still might. I think Don's doing a job. Take all emotions out of it and £3 million when you add in lack of experience, age etc is more than a reasonable offer. That's all I'm saying.
Totally agree with that Its OK saying its a good fee Stones is massively contributing to our current form We are in a very difficult relegation battle, cost of losing it - £3m He's on a long contract, is happy to stay He'll still go in the summer for the same money if not more We wont have time to use the money properly this window given the impending window closure Assuming the money is available which player of championship quality is going to come and fight or the cause in his stead? Massive PR disaster in the making. if we are relegated having lost Stones you can pin it directly to todays transfer activity. I wouldn't sell.
we cannot afford to turn down 3M FACT..... Im convinced he will get better... BUT not at barnsley ... dropping a league will not help him come along to the level a premier side would want him For stones going now will help HIM in my opnion as hes less likely to be a bench warmer on currant form....
The club have said on numerous ocassions they balance the books with what we have coming in. This leads me to believe we don't need to sell players to stay out of debt. We should be fighting hammer and tongs to stay in this league not selling our best assets at such an important time in the future of BFC. If we do get relegated £3m in the pot won't help much against losing our Championship status.
If we go down there will be a £4million(ish) less TV money coupled with a probably reduction in gate receipts as our crowd will probably drop dramatically. Not sure how many championship wages we would still have to pay next season but I suspect we might have difficulties especially if Patrick is unable to help out.
It's not a fact at all, we can afford to turn it down. We were not desperate to accept the earlier bids. We can't afford to be relegated would be a more a bit more FACTual.
We can sign one. One as good, if not better who will fit right in and maintain and improve our current form, who is happy to come and play for us and overturn our terrible history of loan signings!
