We don't know exactly what the deal is or what clauses there are! I'm happy for John stones and hope he can play first team football wherever he goes and doesn't end up in a reserve team for a while. Wigan would be a good move for him he will play there and get more experience for a move to a bigger club. Our season is not over because of one player leaving and the money will put us in a better financial footing in the summer.
The lad could have done his crucial in his next match, then the £3m would have turned into £300K. Don't think we're in a position to turn this sort of money down. Just hope we got enough sell on clauses in there.
It's more likely that he continued to improve, helped us to escape relegation and increased his value. You cannot factor in the possibility of an injury into a valuation otherwise no player would have any value. We had all the aces, he's under contract (a long contract), he didn't make any noises suggesting he wanted to go, he was improving all the time and we're not in debt. We had no need to sell yet we jump at the first offer that meets the clubs 'flawed' valuation.
