Does my bulb in at times! Why is it that whenever a player leaves our club the general reaction is to slate Don Rowing? If we get 3m for stones then it is a good amount to receive for a lad who as played less than a full season for us, ok he's a cracking player who will play at the highest level but unfortunately we are club that have to sell players to keep moving on. If we had more fans coming through the gates then we may not be in such a worry to sell our assets. Since it was first mentioned this morning that stones was going I've never read as much ****ing rubbish on this board, absolutely astounding some of the ***** people come out with. What about a bit of praise for the club and the academy for fetching through such a good footballer?? No, people would much rather slag the club off at any given chance, the way most on here conduct themselves they don't deserve a club like Barnsley to support. Choose whoever the lad ends up with I wish him all the best and hope he goes on to play for the England senior team.
Agreed. Spot on. The witch-hunters have had a hard on all day about this. As for the stay-aways, they're as much to blame as anyone. Give every excuse in the world not to go, but first in line to attack the Club that they contribute nothing towards.
I completely agree. Its a great bit of business for barnsley fc. He is a young lad who, like ALL young lads, dream of playing in the premier league. He may have wanted to go... or we may have just accepted a bid and decided to sell. we may not see much of his money coming back into building the team (more likely to see some of mido's wages used for that) but on eplayer doesn't make a team, nor does it break it! We have sold players for cheap in the past and i can really remember the last time we sold a player that cost us NOTHING for £3m (or even £2m). This sale will now show other clubs.... 1. that we will not sell on the cheap anymore. 2. that we can produce great talent from our academy (butterfield, stones) and more to come..... digby - rose - RNL etc. If we sell one of these ASSETS - they are assets when all is said and done.... for this figure every season, then the future will look rosie... not just for the current owners - BUT for any potential new owner to see what an asset the academy is and how much cash it can make in the future.. One last note - WELL DONE TO BRANSON AND HIS TEAM.
Agree but there is a time to sell. We needed Stonesy till end of year. Without him we could go down, and that is no good for the ever faithful. Rowing by being silent fuels the fire. He is the No1 in line so gets the flack, and it does not take long for the fireside supporters to have a go. Bet most could not name team
I think most people who have posted today have said its a good deal and haven't slagged The Don off....but you don't read those do you.
The jury is in a split decision. The point is not whether it is a good deal for Young Stonesy, it is. It is if we are going to stop up without him. Big big decision and the buck stops at the Dons door. Credit is that we have made steps to counteract our loss
Sell - Yes Now - No 2-3 Million - no 5 Million - Yes The kid is outstanding and on a 3 year contract!! We also should have only sold with a loan back!! We Lose our best ever talent (who I really believe will play for England) for a disgusting low fee & get a 36 year old on loan to cover - and the club want the crowds back.....
Have you actually seen this kid play every week, if so and you think 2-3 million is a good deal then I'm sorry I'm not the one 'talking ********' What was wrong with selling him in the summer, panic sale on the last day again when we are already up against it to stop up. This sale should have set us up for years and really put us in a strong position - this only will only paper over the cracks and not give us a chance to move forward. We have missed a massive chance to really be a lot better off!
We could go down with him, he could have done his cruciate ligament in and never played again and then we'd get nowt for him - all ifs. People on here are really getting carried away with how good he actually is at the current time. OK he has the potential if he keeps improving but who says he will? The £3 million fee is based on his age and the hope that he will iron out the faults he has currently. He's had a few stinkers this season as well as good games If you leave out the age factor - is he any better at right back than Bobby Hassle was in his prime or even Scott Goldbourne on the other side? People would have been gob-smacked at £3 million for any of our defenders in recent times including De Zeeuw, Eden, Morgan etc who were lauded as greats. Is Stones actually any better than they were or is it all based on the fact that we think he'll turn into Carlos Alberto if he keeps improving. Personally, I don't think he is key to our survival - we've got wing backs who can take his place. It's players like Steele and Perkins who we can't afford to lose.
I totally agree, he's class, we didn't need to sell till the summer at the earliest . Pig sick of the short-sighted ness of don ET al!
To be fair you can never be sure how a player will develop. Stones might get much, much, much better - or he might learn everything very quickly and not improve greatly. If you've played FM you will know this

Do you have a personal vendetta against him or something? Why are you so keen for the club to have a couple of million in the bank for the rest of the season rather than keeping him and selling him for that or maybe more in the summer when we can use the money?
