Just something that Dreamboy mentioned last night (or night before). In linear mode the reply and reply with quote buttons appear to do exactly the same thing. Reply with quote seems to work perfectly but the reply button doesn't let you reply without quoting when all it should do is open the quick reply box if I'm right. Any ideas?

Also do you know how the post tree box thing works in threaded view? As in do you know how to customise that at all?

reply doesn't quote, it just replies to the thread and in threaded mode will appear under that post. It does ask the same question but you just need to press ok.

I did see him moaning that hes having to press ok lol. but I think the advantage of being able to highlight text to quote, massively out weighs the the tiny inconvenience of having to click ok to reply to a thread

Ok I didn't realise that. I tested what he said and when I pressed ok it did ask me if I wanted to quote all the message or not so I assumed it wasn't working properly. Just pressed ok like you said and you're right it does do the quick reply without quoting. that's the last time I listen to dreamboy

Next question. Would this be at all possible do you reckon?
At the moment (and ever since we changed to vbulletin) the threaded view has been a bit poor. As a thread gets longer you end up with a little box showing the subject line of about 8 posts in the thread and then have to scroll the box up and down to see any more replies so you end up having to scroll up and down the page and then having to stop and scroll up and down a box on the page. It also makes it pretty hard to see the order of the thread properly because you can be reading a reply to something that was much further up the scroll box so you can't really see the relationship. In all the previous versions of the BBS the post tree was shown in full (ie not in a little box) and was also below the post not above it which again meant you didn't have to keep going back to the top after reading to the bottom (its much more natural for the navigation to be at the end after you've finished reading).

With all that in mind i've mocked up a couple of pictures, one showing how the BBS looks now in threaded, the other showing how previous versions looked in threaded and how I propose this version is altered slightly to look.
The changes are moving the post tree to below the post so that the navigation is directly below when you've finished reading a post and you don't have to scroll back up to the top to start again (I believe this change would be relatively easy to implement and would just be a slight reordering of code in the skin) and also to change the size of the post tree from a fixed size to a dynamic size that resizes itself as more posts are added (no idea how you do that but all previous versions of the BBS did it so I assume it would be possible).

What do you think? I know it's extra work for yourself or Gally but I think it would be worth it. The new changes to the BBS make it the best it has been since vbulletin was adopted so it seems the perfect time to try to tweak it further to get it just right.

The first pic is the current format, the second is the proposed one.

I did this on the classes bfc style when we originally moved, its easy to remove the scroll box and put the threads below, but I couldnt solve the problem that when you clicked on a thread the page jumped to the top and it was very annoying.

Ill have a look again when gally has had the full threaded mode plugin made, and do it as an alternative style. Depends howthe new mod will work.

I suspect you will be revamping the ignore button next! Or better still, adding a 'get a life' feature! :D

Andy, another question for you. Just before the new functions were installed there was a front page where you could see the latest posts, the most recent poll and the top five posters that month. I can't find it anymore, has it gone or am I just being a useless blind asshole.

He'll be adding that at the same time as adding a 'stalker' smiley.

Was it deliberate that you didn't quote anything in that reply?
