Beat MK Dons and draw Man UTD away in next round meaning money in the bank. Also Flitcroft continues good league form to keep us up. Club gets taken over in the Summer. Combined with Stones money, cup run money and new owners investment Flitcroft is given a very healthy warchest to take us onwards and upwards. Simples.
Winning the fa cup would be the greatest achievement for many years and would probably not be repeated in our lifetime. If we get relegated, we will be back up again, so fa cup for me.
Serious? FA Cup winners, all day, every day. We'd come straight back up with the money we generated, and the quality additions who'd fancy the Europa League...
I was drawn to staying up, that is a decent enough achievement this season... but the FA Cup is a bit special so that will do for me... im a little worried that there a few comments of "we'll come straight back up anyway" who are we?and when did we become those lot from S6?
A few weeks ago I'd certainly have said win the FA Cup. But it would be a shame for this recent revival and run of performances to end, especially since everyone is a whole lot more optimistic for our future than they were a few weeks ago. That being said, ordinarily I doubt I'd see us win the FA Cup in my lifetime and its something you're going to remember for the rest of your life. I doubt this season would live long in the memory otherwise. I'd take an FA Cup win over survival but I wouldn't take just an FA Cup final appearance over survival. I reckon we'd do well in league 1 though, we do have a lower league all-stars team.
food for thought though i think there would be plenty from portsmouth who would swap the FA cup win to be where we are now and have a place in the championship.
They won the Cup thanks in part to overspending. We have nothing in common with their approach, should we miraculously lift the old trophy. And should we go down, I'm sure we won't have to sell all our players and recruit short termers. We learned from our mistake, they didn't, twice. So me, a supporter of the longest serving second tier club, and with a squad of players that I rate good enough to stay up, shouldn't be having the belief that we'd be able to come straight back up? Ok.
haha i love the "ok" bit on the end, as someone disagrees and you feel the need to put that on the end to reaffirm your own opinion. It took us 4 years last time. you can have your belief all you like and i applaud you for it , i however fail to see that.
First choice: FA Cup winners AND stay up. Second choice: FA Cup winners and go down. Third choice: FA Cup finalists AND stay up. Fourth choice: Get beaten in FA Cup semi-final AND stay up. Fifth choice: Get beaten by MK Dons AND stay up
