No, not how I like them. This forum shouldn't be a place for anyone to post offensive messages.
(And please don't use the 'bully's defence' that it's my own fault for being offended.)

I have to agree. It is fairly mild by Ponty standard. I personally find the thread amusing and I don't like self appointed arbiters of good taste. I'm a grown up and I can formulate my own opinions.

Surely you're not suggesting that because you found the thread amusing I too should find it amusing. Do you not accept that because of my religious views I found the thread offensive and have the right to express my thoughts?

You don't have to find it amusing and in my opinion you are quite within your rights to comment that you don't approve. However to state that this forum shouldn't be a place for threads which YOU consider offensive means that your religious beliefs should censor what I am allowed to read.

No he isn't saying that. He is saying that your personal religious views shouldn't stop others from having a laugh and enjoying themselves and you shouldn't be telling people that 'forum shouldn't be a place for' people posting things that you personally don't like. The full ponty hasn't walked into your local church and started making jokes about religion, he hasn't gone into your front room and done it either, he has come on a public football message board and made a joke.

The church had absolutely no problem with going on TV, in the newspapers, on the radio etc and spouting its bigoted, offensive, disgraceful views on homosexuality did it. It was fine for offensive things to be said then when they were by the backwards, bigoted cult but when it is against them it is an outrage.

Re: I'm more like Barney Gumble

Erm - do I really have to be Catholic?
I thought it was okay if I used to be a Nazi.

I'll just pretend I'm Catholic in the interview.
I've watched the Da Vinci Code - so I'll be fine.

Tell them you hate Glasgow Rangers, that should convince them. No need to thank me.

    Yes.
    What he said.
    With brass balls on.

I personally don't believe in football.
But people keep posting about it, the buffoons, on a football forum.
    Frisnit, hatstand, bgaark.

People post things which others find offensive from time to time, and then some of those people tell them they think its offensive, still others probably ignore it, but you can't say that dustani's post is the first time this has happened. Why shouldn't dustani express that view in this particular case?

May I be the first to warn this board that it is being targeted - indeed perhaps now swamped - by an underground secretive unknown subversive sect which we only know by virtue of our memory as .....The Righteous Brothers!!!

They surfaced significantly twice in the mid 60's with Unchained Melody and You've lost That Lovin Feelin (notice the aversion to the letter "g").

Resistance is ultimately futile. Comedy and freedom of expression is their enemy.

Political correctness and bland uniformity is their Nirvarna

Except that they don't like Nirvana cos of that baby/tadger piccie on that album cover - they force fed Kurt Cobain straight bananas till he shot himself.

There is more to come that will be the subject of merciless attack. The right to proclaim objection to gay marriage (and thus proclaim that marriage is the union of one man and one woman - which it is), and also to quite rightly ridicule the hypocritical Catholic church for their never ending misdemeanours and cover ups in the name of God knows who, shall soon be a thing of the past.

Next will be booze, gambling, S Club 7, David Bowie and not worshipping Samuel L Jackson (err for no particular reason)

Free speech is rapidly being challenged. These Righteous Brothers - they don't argue that you're wrong. They tell you you can't say it.

    Nowhere is safe

It's all the fault of this Fat/Full Ponty creature. He let the cat out of the bag. Then ate it.

He's a heretic and should be burnt (if he is cookable)
