Aye, and the rest have been pretty much 1st & 3rd round knockouts depending on what league we were in! :D

Millwall in the quarters and we can book that open top bus again.

Miserable owd bugger, if you take in the last 20 years there's a couple more 5th round ties.

Donny haven't been in a 5th rd FA Cup draw since 1953/54, cause they're cack. They're also the only South Yorkshire side never to reach a major final. Rotherham have faired better in the league cup.

For the smallest league football town in South Yorkshire, we don't do bad.

The value of a good Cup run

not only the financial rewards but the interest it reignites amongst the fans, its absolutely essential for survival imho. Certain previous managers didnt realise it hence why interest wained significantly.

"THE Red and White Ar-my...." repeat...

Is Barnsley smaller than Rotherham? I haven't measured them, so quite happy to take your word for it. :)

It's districts that count when considering football catchment areas. :)

is there is no demarcation of boundaries with regards to football clubs though, especially around south yorkshire where loads of fans from the outlying districs (say dearne towns of Bolton etc) support any of the teams from Sheffield/Roth/Barnsley/Doncaster etc...

Yeah but people never compare like with like. Burnley always get quoted as the prime example of a high crowd in terms of % of population with a 75,000 population yielding average crowds of 11,000. Burnley's catchment area is just as big as Barnsley's but they haven't suffered the local government reorganisation like us which saw towns in their own right like Penistone, Hoyland etc swallowed up by their bigger neighbours - they're more likely to follow the pigs than us. Also, if you're on about districts - Newcastle's is relatively small compared to their catchment area. There's not another league club within 60 miles bar Sunderland and they hate each other's guts.

when we got to the semis i was living in Canada,Calgary to be exact.
we are bound to get to the semis again as im living back in North America,Washington dc

And my wife says if we get to semis i can fly over for the game.

so if youre at wembley and you see a DC UNITED shirt it will probably be me,as my reds shirt doesnt fit anymore.

Or me. I have friends over in your neck of the woods (Silver Spring) so got to a DC United game a few years back and have a couple of their old shirts I wear quite a bit. Although if we got to Wembley I guess I'd have to buy a nice shiny new Barnsley shirt to fit in with the other fair-weather supporters and give the regulars something to moan about.

My friends are American - I knew one from Uni at York and she went back to the states and got married. It's far too long since I've been over - I went over for the wedding and then a couple of times since but I think the last time was actually 10 years ago now. That's quite depressing.

We took in a DC United game against San Jose Earthquakes and also Redskins v Cowboys, which was a hell of an experience. Also went to Philly and a few other places - kept meaning to get up to New York but never did make it. Not yet, anyway . . .
