    He can relate to Daggers.

"I never a had a great start here.. a few of the fans were on my back - rightly so.."

Can't remember who it was on here who said O'Brien had a great first season, but here is yet more proof from the player himself that he actually didn't.

I think the step from SPL to Championship is certainly upward. And he probably needed time to adapt/adjust.

He's never going to be the best player at the club, but he's one of the best at getting the best out of himself. And he's still relatively young tbh.

Same person who thinks Sir Bob's only asset is his blistering pace.

He always had a good touch, but was just completely ineffective.

I think he's just been nice having listen to the interview whitey.

Barnsley fans have got a rep of doing it, Chris wood and JayRod were written off quite early here and just look take a look at them. Ones in the prem after a big money move and the others got about 17 at 1/2 or less. Dawson got the same and the same about perkins.

I think some need to think before they start writing off players.

And so am i jim, Don't worry about a thing....

I think he was being honest. I've spoken to him and he admitted as much, that he found the step up difficult and understood the small number of fans getting on his back.

We haven't got a 'rep' for anything of the sort. I'm not being clever, but seen as you've been a fan for 5 years, I can guarantee you that after 25 years of watching BFC and football in general, that it is quite common for ALL CLUBS' supporters to write players off too early. It's not a BFC thing as you seem to believe, trust me.

On Chris Wood, let's be honest, he was a very different player back then. Very young and possibly not quite ready. And I don't recall Rodriguez getting wrote off. He wasn't here long enough.

Neither do I think Dawson was wrote off. I myself was impressed with him from day one, and again I don't recall anybody (sensible) on here writing him off.

I'll give you Perkins. Again, I was one of the very few who recognised his talents from day one, but yes, a lot of folk did write him off very early on.

And Daggers was wrote off by everybody but Dyson, and he only stuck with him because that's what he does.

I'm sorry but they do, well some.

Every time I see Chris Wood score, I smile to myself.

Chris Wood was not ready for Championship football while he was here and it was plain to see. Doesn't mean he was never going to be a good player.

He wasn't our player either (short term loan) so not sure of the benefit to BFC to bleeding another clubs player was when he wasn't up to the job at the time

At Barnsley Chris Wood was ****. So was Jonathan Walters. Jay Rodriguez was ok and I can't remember him copping for any stick.

The fact they have gone on to better things does nothing to change the fact they were mediocre for us.

HT's thought process with young players: "I'll say they're the best thing since sliced bread, then if they turn out to be good I'll look like a genius. If not no-one will remember."

How are Kern Miller and Jamil Adam doing these days?

Not me, I was campaigning for his return. We were winning with him in the team, even if he wasn't scoring.
Last season I didn't see enough to pass comment.

Jim has definitely improved since his first season but he still has a few 'head-in-the-hands' moments during games.. Such as last night's short free kick which traveled about 6 yards to an opposition player.

Does no one else think he struggled being overshadowed by Hammill in his first season?

I think he's improved. He was dreadful in his first season, so to be fair he didn't have to up his levels much! He also gave 110% every time, so that's gradually made him a fan favourite while they watched the rest of the squad gradually deteriorate.

All of a sudden, now the rest of the team have found their way, I think he's starting to look average again. He's definitely no replacement in the middle for Daws or Kelvin. Best on the wing, but if we're playing wing backs i'm not sure how he can fit in.

At the mo, squad/bench player for me..
