I find it real disappointing that such a big city lost 50 odd names and no one goes on about them, including the two Lincoln supporters. It makes me hate Liverpool even more that they seem to be wanting to have the reputation of being victims. Sorry if it seems a dig at scousers but it pisses me off.
I think part of it is that the Bradford disaster was 'resolved' in the football community's eyes - accident happened, inquest held, conclusions reached, changes made. Hillsborough has rumbled on for years and years and we're still not quite at the bottom of what went on.
not so sure its all that much to do with self pity, hillborough has always been surrounded by wrong doing and police cover ups, false statements etc...and these are the reasons it has never been put to rest.On the other hand the bradford fire was investigated without such problems.
Not a subject to be flippant about lads. Hillsboro was a total stitch up and a lot of lies. The relatives fought for the truth and finally got it . Not over yet. Bradford was a travesty with wooden stands catching fire. Both were sad events and you have to feel for all those concerned
Not self pity - facts at Bradford were a little clearer - cigarette lit rubbish under the stand - most were trapped behind the stand. Lot of the questions at Hillsboro still haven't been answered. Both awful tragedies that have shaped football grounds as they are now
Considering it involved Liverpool it always seems a bit funny that Heysel hardly ever gets a mention either.
That has been buried a little - I know at the time that National Front were blamed in some quarters for that - think we know that this was not the case. We've had some run ins with the friendliest fans in football a few times :-(
