Whinging on about the horsemeat scandal a letter yesterday in the Mirror said local butchers were more expensive than supermarkets. What a loadof cr@p! Used butchers for years (pick stuff up on our travels too) but been to Percy Turners today and got a piece of sirloin (14oz) an inch thick pork chop and a pound of shin beef and it cost me £5.56 Beat that Tesco,ASDA, etc And its loverleeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ain't bought meat in supermarkets for years. Always use farm shops, Rob Roy's or Blacker Hill Farm. More expensive but it's quality and no waste to cut off. Tastes so much better as well. There's a good value farm shop on road from M62 to White Rose, Leeds. On your left. Topcliffe Grange Farm.
So after all the news about horse meat being sold as beef, you believe it when they say suitable for vegetarians on the side. Lol
Turners is bonkers. It's rough and ready - you trim your own fat off and it's been known for my Sirloin steaks to still have string in them! But at £7.70 a kilo I could afford to throw half of it by weight in the bin as waste and still be up on the deal compared to the supermarkets. The best deal for me though is the mince at £1.50/lb. Under half supermarket price and fries dry. The supermarket stuff you drain off about a mug full of fatty water out the pan when you've fried it.
i am actually a butcher for Morrisons, I can honestly say that the meat (especially the beef) is as good as any ive tried anywhere. however the prices must be watced. this week half price pork shoulder is a crackin buy but sirloin and fillet far too expensive but people just keep picking the up without looking at the prices, more fool them!
Me too, not that long but long enough. I think it's a right laugh they've all been eating horse. And the rest, if the expose rumours are true!
So why bother replying to a thread about Butchers then ? Ah !! Maybe its because you want to look all superior or something eh?
1) I'm not smug 2) You can't spell lasagne 3) I wouldn't dream of eating Tesco vegetarian lasagne (or any other supermarket vegetarian lasagne) Let's get back to football!!! Three points on Saturday would be good...
I'm a bit concerned the subject of vegism touches a nerve with you Mark old bean? I was properly ripping the wee out of myself recently about it, and you still sent me a dislike?
Just stating the case for being a vegetarian, don't want or need to feel superior; however if you want to feel inferior that's fine by me.
