Give the lad a chance, he just happens to have played in our worst 2 performances since the new year.

I seem to remember most giving Jon Walters, Michael Chopra and more recently Chris wood a hard time look how they turned out... Could also say same about dagger. Zero to hero!

    Fickle!

Give em a chance FFS... Looked composed, had good first touch, didn't shy away from a tackle, had a decent shot on target... And played 60mins even though he's not match fit

Walters and Wood were awful when they "played" for us. The fact that they have gone on to do better elsewhere is not the definition of fickle.

He looked fine yesterday to me.

The defence couldn't find him enough with passes but he won the ball well early on.

Agree, mellis should be in the team. I said it to anyone that would listen yesterday but he wasn't. The manager wants to go with two up front.

Nardiello wans't too shabby either. Tunnicliffe needs time, he hasn't played much this season so bound to be rusty. Strange he's starting games though.

It's easy to play Mellis and keep two upfront. Don't play Tunnicliffe!

Don't think either of them were great and I think we've got better in the squad for both positions, but they weren't THE problem.

THE problem was the defence. We had two players at wing back who in all likelihood have never played that position before and it showed. It made the whole formation a complete mess. And we had a back three consisting of players who may be adept at defending against tricky forwards, but struggle to mark big, powerful strikers. They get bullied, all three of them. Bolton played with two big, powerful forwards and our defenders lost out time and again in that first half. At least one of our back three needed to be a defender up for a battle. In our squad that is Steve Foster and he should have played.

We could have carried O'Brien and Tunnicliffe not being at their best if the back five were much stronger. We scored two goals and created a number of other chances. We did OK. But we were put under far too much pressure and conceded three goals because the player selection for the back five was entirely inappropriate.

    IMHO and all that.

I completely agree, and Foster would be my first name on the team sheet. Couldn't believe he wasn't playing. But we were awful first half. We couldn't keep the ball, there were no options for passes, and we played aimless balls forward. Much of that was because O'Brien went missing in the key position in the formation. I don't blame him, he's a wide player, but the frailties in defence were further exposed by not retaining the ball. its no coincidence we defended better second half when we started doing the basics again.

Assuming you went to Bristol you've seen Tunncliffe play in roughly one and a half games and you've wrote him off already, quite bizzare.

Win some you lose some. Can't say Manchester United don't produce good players!

We're fighting for our lives at this stage of the season. Tunnicliffe is not helping us. I don't care if he goes on to be a great player for Man Utd. It's not up to us to try and develop another club's player.
