Wiseman to blame for the first goal. What the **** was he trying to do?

Good hit by Spearing for their second.

Great save by Steele from Eagles, better than I first thought.

Still unsure about Cywka's goal. Thought it had taken a deflection yesterday, but none the wiser. Poor keeping if not.

Poor keeping for our equaliser, but great following up by O'Grady.

I think Steele expected Eagles to hit the free kick, and he did well to get across to the eventual shot by Alonso, but couldn't hold it. Bit of a clanger, but not as bad as it first looked.
And where were the defenders following up? Etuhu was nearest and hardly bothered to react.

O'Brien's effort was well saved, but he had room to go round the keeper, as I thought he would have done at the time.

Wiseman's acrobatic clearance off the line was rather fortunate, but fair play - right place right time.

    After the way O'Brien

Finished off similar opportunities against Blackpool & Middlesbrough last month, I was surprised he didn't take his chance. It doesn't alter the fact that he's played nowhere near his best these past couple of weeks. Neither does it alter the fact that he played very well and made a major contribution during our unbeaten run.

Davies was backing in. Did it well at times for Barnsley and it was the same there. At times he's a very smart player and can just stay on the right side of the lasw.
Would expect him to save that Whitey. Hit with Little pace.

Same, i thought it had taken a deflection but it hadn't when watching it back.

For the three kick. He dived past it. Should be doing better. Attckers always react quicker than the defenders whitey. Maybe its because the attackers face the ball and the defenders face the free kick taker?

    Very true, mate.

I like Jim, but prefer to see him out wide.

I think his recent performance levels have dipped, pretty much since MK away when he replaced Etuhu.
That day, Mellis got a rare start and was key to everything positive we did in that first half. Bizarrely, he's not started since, only featuring against Wolves as a sub - and scoring the winner - and again off the bench yesterday, where in my opinion he shone once more.
I'd like to see him back in the fold from the start, not when we're chasing games.

I think he should play RWB if we are to play that position but i think you said he said on twitter or something he didn't want to play there.

Scott (and his teammates) should know what Davies is capable of. There was no way he could win that particular duel. He was 'done' by Davies and cost us the key first goal.

Twas a fine save, well tipped round the posts and away from danger.

That makes no sense, mate. Care to elaborate?

Oh I agree with you, Andy

Jim never shirks his defensive duties to the team when he's playing out wide, either. It's my opinion that Mellis is our most creative player and ought to be selected to start far more often than he's doing at present. I'm certain that the likes of Dagnall, Harewood, Scotland & O'Grady will all benefit from the chances created by the flair and imagination of Mellis.

Somebody suggested he play there, and Jim called it the "graveyard shift".

Personally, I'd rather see Hassell or Wiseman at RWB.

You watch and the attackers will be facing the goal. Which means they only have to run.

Defenders normally face the free kick. which means they have to turn and run.

Could there be reasons we are unaware of for his lack of starts? Carrying an injury perhaps?

Ahh. That makes sense now, and I agree.

You said the attackers face the ball, in your first post. Hence the confusion.

    Not hassell.
Hassell's only played good in centre defence.
Against Zigic he was very good. Read the play very well. I think Hassells decent on the ball too. I think against Daives he would struggle.

Does not run enough, The management want runners and workhorses , rather than flair. Been working well so far !!

thought he played quite well against wolves when he came on and ran a lot.

I agree that Mellis should play.

Also does anyone else think Steele lost concentration when Davies went right in front of Steele?

Davies walked forward and made sure he was onside but that might have affected Steele
