Just wanted to plug by far the best kebab I've ever had, and trust me I've had a few!!! Bolton Fisheries in Bolton on Dearne do a House Special for two for just £9.50. It consisted of lamb kebab, chicken kebab, marinated chicken breast, marinated lamb steak and beef steak. Two pitta breads, a fresh salad, a carton of homemade chilli sauce (amazing!!) garlic sauce, chips and two cans of diet coke. I think that's all!!! Yes there's a lot and the tray the meat comes in is approx 1ft square. All the meat was prime cuts, no fat. The quality is way beyond anything I've had before, owners are pleasant and the kitchen open serving area was spotless. All cooked on a charcoal griddle which is tasty chargrilled.

Just a plug for them that's all, worth the drive if you live within 30 mins, beyond spectacular!! Back again as soon as this one has run out in the next few days ;)

    Has anyone else tried it?

As far as I can tell they don't deliver which is a shame but seriously they're worth walking to fetch!! In 40 years I've never had owt like it! I get a chippy should be chippy and a kebab shop...well a kebab shop, but these guys can cook!! While I waited for it I was offered to sample their fish (small piece free of charge) also cracking!!

Let me know what you think, try the special kebab thing for two. I always thought the Cha chaz house special was decent but not a patch on this.

Happy eating guys!! Hope it helps!!

Used to go there years ago, the fish were huge and so were the portions of chips but it was definitely quantity over quality, that kebab sounds decent though, might give it a try.

Me too! 'Well worth the drive' had me n'all. Well worth the open heart surgery more like!

And this hot on the heels of the sensible meat industry/veggie discussion at the weekend.

Why? I've never understood people who say that.. Personally I prefer the taste of diet over normal, but lets say you just think they taste the same, then what's the point having additional calories that are basically just "empty calories". I have no problem having a diet coke with fish and chips - why should I have the additional 200 calories from a can of coke when I can have a can of coke with 2 calories? His overall meal, given it's lean meat, is fairly healthy apart from the chips anyway.

Lamb kebab is pretty far from lean.

It's the juxtoposition of 'heart attack in a styrofoam tray' with the lo-cal beverage. Cracks me up every time. By the way I'm no food nazi, I love a good kebab, it's just the choice of diet drink to accompany it always tickles me.

Thanks for the recommendation OP, didn't have the House Special as my belly isn't that big but the Chicken Shish I had was excellent, loads of chicken, and red cabbage instead of cucumber but it was the chilli sauce that made it, loads tastier than squirty stuff out of a bottle.

They still had the giant fish as well but I don't think the same people were running the place.
