Or is he just overawed? Not sticking with his man. Not putting a challenge in when he needs to in the box. Very poor IMO.

Anyone? Another goal when Crainie should've been closer to his man. And what on earth was Etuhu (not) doing? He doesn't look interested.

Terrible defending by Crainie tonight. , We are wide open down the City left, because TuTu has been *****, maybe we will improve now he has gone off?

Tbf CT...Cranie as probably been our best, most consistent central defender since Flicker took over...fair enough, I don't think he covered himself in glory tonight, but he's normally decent...

That's good to hear. I don't like picking on a player, but he was definitely not doing his job of marking tightly enough - at least 2 of the goals were a direct result of him not putting in a challenge in the box. Standing off them and letting them get a shot away. Oh well, hope he keeps his head up, gets over it and puts in a decent performance on Tuesday. That's all that matters now.

Only seen the game live...from where we were Cranie seemed to have a very good game indeed, against the highest quality players around.

Cranie has been a different class to the rest of our centre half options this year, looks like a proper footballer. He let in a few today against some world class forwards but honestly he is one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Not a criticism of yourself but watch it again yourself though and reevaluate ...he made some superb tackles

He cost us 3 goals, making a couple of tackles is what he is paid for, sorry mate he was crap today !
I cant comment on other matches , but today he was poor.

Thought he did ok! The defence were always going to struggle because we created absolutely nothing going forward .defenders were under constant pressure for 90 mins

Again, don't like to slate players, but making a few decent tackles does not make up for switching off at the critical moments. Doing 95% of it right then costing us big time for the remainder is not what I want to see from a CB. Hope it was the occasion that got to him, rather than a major flaw in his game and that he'll be back to his best on Tuesday.

Thought he did quite well considering the standard of opposition.

Some OTT comments on here as usual.

I think you'll find the International class forwards he had facing him played a large part, rather than his own deficiencies.

Allowing a ball to run across your own penalty area (when you can cut it out) has NOTHING to do with the standard of opposition. I'm a fan of Cranie, but he won't be happy with his contribution today.

I disagree. I don't understand why he was standing off his man in the 6-yard box. He gave them far too much room. It's not like we conceded 5 world class goals - we conceded goals because we made some very, very basic defensive mistakes. Just my opinion.

I've only seen it live but IMO the difference was the fact that Carlos Tevez is world class, and showed it today
