    I was hearing earlier on the BBC how the fact he'd been "in public service" would be used in mitigation. The fact he'd been paid for that service from the public purse and that such high office should surely lead to a reasonable expection of not entering into illegal activity was not mentioned.

    Nobody has lost more from such a 'minor' offence apparently...

    Had he taken the points he'd have had some press attention and then moved on. Twerp. Seems to be an arrogance amongst some in high political office that they can get away with stuff that the rest of us have to face up to.
