    Brighton

    http://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?273159-Barnsley-Rollcall

"Sorry, I went up there last year - never again, it is a ****-hole!
The way we are playing threatens to be an equally dire match as well."

    "Dreadful place"

"Anyone who travels up From Sussex on a school night with temps forecast of -3 with a chill factor of -10 to that northern hole to watch a drab 0-0 deserves a medal I salute anyone who is going , I'm not"

"Anything over 500 at a place that grim would be a great turnout.
When we played there last season I think the floodlights had to be turned on at about 1:30pm. GRIM."

    Leicester

    http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/86697-barnsley-away/page__st__20

"Barnsley have a massive away end that we can fill! Will be a brilliant away day if we're performing well at that stage."

"I'll be at home for this so it's one of my local games. Hopefully I'll be able to make it. Love Barnsley, it's one of my favourite away days."

"Had some class days out at Barnsley away, really hope this is one of them."

"Love Barnsley away, whenever I've been (the 1-0 win in the relegation season and the 2-0 win under Sven) the atmosphere has been class. Looking forward to this."

"Gutted to be missing this, Easter Monday means no chance of me getting this off work. Love Bransley away, the 2-0 under Sven was immense"

"Think this fixture and its pricing alone is all the more to strive for improvement on the pitch, don't think there's an away ground where I've had so many good memories."

The arrogance and percieved self-importance of some Brighton fans astounds me. Seemingly forgetting they were for a long time an away day to avoid due to playing in an athletics dump, I've seen various disparaging comments about us and other teams recently. The way they acted over the Greer rumours showed unbelievable arrogance. I'm sure some think they live in Monte Carlo, not a over-hyped, not particularly attractive town on the south coast. A new stadium and 10,000 new fans later and suddenly Barnsley away is beneath them. Fair play to Leicester fans, they always turn up in good numbers and appear to have a good core of proper fans who make some noise and have a good day out.

I think the praise will have a lot to do with the complimentary three points that Leicester often take back down the M1 after visiting us

Brighton are like Wednesday, but without the history or fanbase to back them up.

Disappear in a PUFF of smoke in a few years time. Hopefully.

Good to hear Leicester like us. I think many proper football fans like our ground. Better than the modern shi.te thats around these days.

Until reading that I actually forgot how much I dislike Brighton fans (after the Greer incident).

A few seasons at this level, a new boring, nondescript, shi.t, identikit stadium and the fans turn into absolute cun.ts.

Where have they been the last 50 years?

    Soppy southern bast.ards.

    Brighton's full of smackheads.

And they haven't even got any sand on their beach.

We do have some absolute idiots, probably more than average to be honest. The standard Brighton fan is probably pretty down to earth, shame some seem to have forgotten what we've been through not long ago.

You can insult our fans, our players and our club, but not our stadium!

    Identikit? Please.

    Is that your stadium?

Looks similar to Hull, Derby, Southampton, Reading, Cardiff, Brimingham, Swansea, Midldesbrough, Leicester, Coventry.

Think you can see what i'm getting at.

    Very boring.

Give me a propper football ground every day of the week.

Would hate to go to a soulless arena to watch football week in, week out.

I disagree completely. It's most similar to Hull's, but I don't think Hull's is much like Southampton, Reading, Cardiff, Birmingham, Swansea, Leicester, Coventry and to some extent Middlesbrough. Did you come down for the away game earlier this season? How many of those you listed have two smaller end stands, a three-tier stand along one side and a two-tier stand along the other? Pretty sure it's none. I think it's closer to the Etihad (albeit a bit smaller) than anything to be honest.

Some Brighton fans really are cap ends but I would bet that many of those slating us and the ground are Johnny-come-lately fans who weren't there during the dark days of the Goldstone, admin and Archer.

I've met a few Leicester fans in my time, they all seem to be very loyal and level headed. I suppose it's being in the premier league then unexpectedly dropping down into the third tier that does it (shame the same can't be said for the MASSIVES).

I've been to Brighton, Boring, and it pissed it down in July. A new stadium, new fans and an owner who has spent a barrow load of money, doesn't break you away from the mainland, and off towards Gibraltar i'm afraid.

With the budget they have, they should be in the top 3, they're just not as good as they think they are. MASSIVE

Our budget isn't as big as you might think it is. Yes, we've spent a lot on a stadium and a new academy, but our actual playing budget is lower than most teams in the league, I think the chairman said we're about 14th in terms of wages.

I'll agree on the stadium, whilst I dislike the corporate feel of it, it is different to most generic bowls and has a character and building style of it's own.

We couldn't afford the replica shirts of the likes of Bridge and Orlandi let alone their wages.

I dont normally have owt against Brighton but after reading what their fans have to say about us, that makes me very angry. Wasnt their old Goldstone Ground an absolute heap by the way, and when they almost went out of the FL didnt most of the country bend over backwards to help them ? How dare they make such comments about teams who deserve to be where they are.

Not even IN Brighton though is it? If I was a long-standing Albion fan used to poodling down to the Goldstone I wouldn't think much to having to go out to Falmer to watch my team. Hang on though, most NEW Brighton fans never went to the Goldstone, did they?

I have actually had a couple of mates in the past who were Brighton fans and so was pleased for the club on its recent success in joining the Championship and have been impressed by how the club have taken to the Championship, but after tonight that's changed. What a bunch of arrogant knobs, both their fans at the game that I spoke to and the ones I read on their forum are suddenly so arrogant it genuinely shocked me. Time was they were a small club and it amazes me how much a bit of investment has made them as entitled as the likes of Wednesday. RIP Brighton.

From what I hear most of their newfound fanbase are fans of London clubs who can't afford to get up to London every weekend.
