    sorry you two but

ok yes you got it however Trick of the tail , which has the track "Squonk" on it was a result of the selfish T W A T Phil Collins denying the genius of Hackett and Gabriel. Collins even dedicated Squonk to Gabriel. He even had the temerity to do the album "and then there were 3" he even did a track on abacab to insult Gabriel a man who he could only wish to be.

    no mate not at all

it is your taste and no one will question that, Guessing you are not of an age that would really appreciate the early Genesis or bands like Jethro Tull, Yes, Greenslade, Family,Budgie,Rush, Manfredd Mann (and his earthbound too) Dr Feelgood, and many many more. Music is wonderful but these days the media that is born from the like of Pete Waterman and Simon Cowell, means that the next generation get lost on the classics of modern music. For instance today they say that Oasis are genius... but in reality they are a very very very poor mans Beatles, Blurr too are an inferior version of the KINKS, And then we have the man Paul Weller, now this guy is very worth his salt, but he was surpassed much, very much by Steveie Winwood and bands like the original Small Faces.

Re: no mate not at all

    worth a listen, both groundbreaking.

I would also listen again to Blur, deserve more credit than the reference you make to them. The Kinks are a great band, but Blur equally so. Oasis released some fantastic rock and roll songs from Def Maybe and Whats the Story but went downhill after that in my opinion. I would say that a number of their tracks (Live Forever, Some Might Say, Whatever) are up there with some of the best rock songs of all time. How do you jump from Pete Waterman to Oasis? I don't understand that one, mate.

There has been a shift towards insipid music via xfactor etc but out of that always comes antiestablishment; there is still good music being made, you just need to know where to look for it.

I really like Peter Gabriel, got all his albums and yet I never really took to Genesis while he was a member. Find the later stuff from And then there were three onwards much more palatable. Why is that? D'you recon they got more comercial?

Yeah agreed mate. Sorry I didn't realise you were replying to me.
My point was why do I prefer listening to Genesis post PG as opposed to when he was in the group. As I said I think PG is great as a solo artist but when he was in Genesis...? Maybe I should dig out all the early Genesis and give them a right good listen.
