Unless it's Kraftwerk you're very much mistaken.

Got to be the Scorpions. Saw them in Glasgow a few years ago supporting Judas Priest.

KlingKlang is the studio where Kraftwerk created and recorded their phenomenal sounds. I love Kraftwerk but does anybody know Die Toten Hosen? Fun German punk vibes.

Huge Anja Huwe poster on the wall in my younger days. She's a working artist now I think.

    Forgot to say

whilst Kraftwerk and Neu are fair contenders for the crown, any mention of the Scorpions is banned from this thread.

I started this thread and rules is rules. :)

The fantastic BBC documentary on Krautrock in full here. Just wish it was a hour longer. The social/political background of the Cold War is fascinating. Worth mentioning as well, the radical music scene inspired Bowie to go to Berlin where he made Heroes and Low and produced The Idiot and Lust For Life for Iggy Pop. The German scene was enormously influential and you can really feel the Cold War bleakness of Berlin in the recordings. :)

Krautrock - The Rebirth of Germany (BBC Documentary) - Full Version

Documentary which looks at how a radical generation of musicians created a new German musical identity out of the cultural ruins of war.
Between 1968 and 1977 bands like Neu!, Can, Faust and Kraftwerk would look beyond western rock and roll to create some of the most original and uncompromising music ever heard. They shared one common goal - a forward-looking desire to transcend Germany's gruesome past - but that didn't stop the music press in war-obsessed Britain from calling them Krautrock.
