Following on from Tuesday night's display. The pride is back at our club, in the squad and amongst the fans, thanks to David Flitcroft, Mickey Mellon & Martin Scott. I was as giddy as a school kid at the end of the match, shouting and hollering praise to the lads in red. One day I'll grow up and start acting my age. But it won't be today!
Understandably. Currently we are looking like a promotion side, if we can't get giddy now we never can. Call me immature, and you'd be right!
By the time we'd got back to the car Both barnsley66 & I had lost our voices. Perhaps not altogether a bad thing!
It was a cracking atmosphere yesterday. More of the same from all concerned and we will go into the summer dreaming of play offs next season. Been a long time since we have had a really positive summer break, full of optimism.
Was awesome. People sat round me in east upper, cheering every challenge, every pass. Not one critical comment all match. Just support for 90 minutes. Was class
I Agree I was like a puppy with its first chew stick or a kitten with its first sardine. I didn't lose my voice though as I only communicate by text. One of the best performances for years, capped off by a fairytale appearance by Lord Beckenbobby. Outstanding!
Can't remember the last time I saw our three sides of the ground singing together - very moving at times
Re: 'Lord Beckenbobby' I'm not claiming credit for that, I read it on here a few months ago! We may still go down, but what ever happens now we have shown what team spirit and hard work can achieve on a football field. Just hope other teams don't catch on.
In a similar vein I posted on here the nickname given to David Perkins by Charlton fans on their version of the BBS, Barnsley Boris. In previous seasons, we'd probably be safe now, as near as damn it. You're right, of course, we can still be relegated. Hopefully, we can keep our form going for the last nine games. It'd also be helpful if the likes of Wednesday, Ipswich, Wolves Peterborough & Bristol City all fail to win another game!
Re: In a similar vein I prefer "Dorothy" for Mr Perkins, after an early season flirtation with the name "Travis". I'm afraid "Boris" never got off the ground with me.
Re: In a similar vein Despite the wonderful displays of Etuhu & Perkins in the centre of midfield, it's comforting to know we can also call on the services of Dawson, Delap & Beckenbobby, too. There are many times when being a Barnsley fan has required a great deal of faith. At this moment in time, though, it's bloody lovely!
It's feeling good right now, you're right. Just got back to London after a fab weekend in Barnsley. Arrived on Friday lunchtime, booked in to the Premier Inn next to the Lamproom. Had dinner in the Glass house restaurant next door - wine at just £8.99 a bottle, can't be bad! Then late on, off up to The Miners for a couple of pints, always made welcome in there. Saturday made the weekend after that terrific 100% display that makes you proud to support the Tykes. Dinner with friends yesterday evening at my niece's place in Mapplewell, a really good evening. And finally back to London today, driving through heavy rain and blizzards at times, but happy having spent a fab weekend up there. Only downside? Work in the morning!
Glad you've had such a terrific weekend, mate. As I'm retired, I no longer have that 'back to work Monday morning' feeling.
Envy you - especially when the alarm will go off at 10 past 6 in the morning! Loved yesterday at Oakwell, the whole collective effort of the team was inspiring. When Sir Bobby scored, and the stadium broke into a rendition of "Oh Bobby Hassell" etc, it was a moment to savour.
