Losing 2-0 Alnwick, Stead, Scott, Kilburn, Jones, Patterson, Rooney, Silva, Rose, Noble-Lazarus, Knight
Thats him Blivy. Talking to a scout who's seen the u21's a few times this season he seemed to think Ronney been playing the best.
Been down to watch them this aft... wish I hadn't as I've only just thawed out! Played some good football at times on what were nasty conditions and a boggy pitch. Difficult for most of the lads to get on the ball and show their technical ability, but Reuben was probably the pick due to the few occasions he did this. The Knight lad looked okay, composed on the ball and pinged a few lovely passes. Not sure he's any better than what we've already got development squad wise in terms of the long run though. Silva struggled on the right wing but got more into it second half. Very raw talent and can see why he's not figured in the first team much due to his lack of work ethic. Still, the base attributes are there. Also first time I've seen Rooney and the young Jones. Thought Rooney looked good in the 'hole' and played a couple of nice balls through. Seems to be a very good dead ball kicker courtesy of a sweet left foot too. Andrai Jones looks well poised on the ball but didn't really have enough to do defensively for me to pass much of judgement. Likes to get forward and could I'm sure be moulded into a right wing back. Poor old Danny Rose had a tough afternoon. Got battered about and missed a couple of chances but was always willing. Speaks volumes that he was caked in twice the amount of mud that anyone else on the park was! His movement is exceptional though, natural and instinctive like the best goalscorers. For me, every game he plays will do him the world of good, developing him mentally as much as anything, and a loan spell would be ideal at some point although Flicker will probably want him here for the rest of this season. One interesting aside to potentially stir the rumour cauldron was that John Stones was stood next to us watching the game (At least I'm 90% sure it was him, hood up and all that!). Time off from Moyes for international break or popped down to sign a loan deal? Who knows!
Nice of him to pop back and see everyone down at Oakwell. Hopefully we'll be at the front of the queue if Everton ever look to loan him out.
Homesick, he wasn't ready to leave. Career on pause, should be playing football a lad that age, ridiculous. Just hope they don't ruin him.
