looking on the wolves board, there is a thread discussing the teams that they have played, and stating that before all the new teams started entering the league they were the only team to have played all 91 league teams.

They seem to have worked out that now the only teams they have never played are

    AFC Wimbledon
    Aldershot Town (under this name)
    Burton Albion
    Crawley Town
    Dagenham and Redbridge
    Fleetwood Town
    MK Dons (under this name)
    Stevenage
    Yeovil Town

They do say they wil probably tick a few off net season :)

which current football league teams have Barnsley never played

    I haven't a clue :)

Ours are probably quite similar to theirs, looking at that list. Not sure how many we'd have ticked off when we were playing in League 1...

we probably haven't played most of the teams in the list from the wolves board, just wondered if there were any traditional football league teams we haven't played also

No. The only ones we haven't played are teams that have come into the league recently. In a fit of boredom recently I sat and worked out when our last victory and defeat were against every league team and when we last finished above them int he league pyramid and when we last finished below them. Actually, I also worked out when we were last a division above each team and a division below each team.

Go on then, a quiz question. Which team in our division has held superiority over us for the longest in terms of final league position (i.e. which team do you have to go back the furthest to find us finishing above them in the league)? And which team in our division do you have to go furthest back to see them finishing above us in the league? The second question isn't that difficult to work out really, if you think about it!

**** me, you were VERY bored weren't you? :) Couldn't you have gone for a walk or something? That exercise sounds like a 'life's too short' kind of exercise to me.

My guess by the way is Blackburn and Huddersfield. :) Off the top of my head is this the first season that Blackburn have been down in this division for over 20 years, and Huddersfield have been in a lower league since we were promoted back in 2006, so I am guessing that every other side has been in this league and probably above us in the years since.

Yes, but also quite sad, because I was quite interested in the outcome! But you think that's bad. A year or so ago I plotted the average league positions of every team since I first started frequenting Oakwell (1976-77) to see where teams 'belonged', using different criteria. Whichever one I used we either came out as a bottom 6 second flight team or a top 6 third flight team. My preferred criteria (and I can't remember the details, but I think it was based on actual league positions) had us in exactly the position we were in when I did it (17th in the second flight).

I might be setting the questions for the Supporters Trust quiz night soon, so all this research will come in handy for the killer round!

Spot on! See, it took me hours and several excel spreadsheets to work everything out and you pluck it out of the air, eh!

Okay, of all the teams in the current football league that we have beaten (in either league or cup, not friendlies) who do you have to go back the furthest to find a Reds victory? The only ones we have never beaten are the handful of teams that have entered the league in recent years that we have never played in a league or cup match (Crawley, Burton, etc).

No, just using recent unemployed status constructively (as well as looking for a job, obviously!). I've also become a dab hand at ironing and cleaning, have dusted off the mountain of cookbooks and actually made some of the things within and I'm 28 films into a 63 film Hammer Horror film marathon (best one so far either The Brides of Dracula or Taste of Fear, if you're interested!).

I was going to say Arsenal and then saw that the question said "current football league" and I always remember from school - read the question properly :)

Try doing one of his pop quizzes. If you weren't in the band, you're not going to get it.
