i agree 100% with his statement! they lower prices fans still dont come...they put prices back and they moan! the club cant do right for doing wrong. buy a season ticket if u cant afford prices on a match day and if u cant afford that then they do an offer of 30 a month throughout the season for a season ticket! STOP THE MOANING
Great tactic, have a go at the stay-aways, moaners or not, their support is vital if the club is to move forward.. I thought the whole idea about marketing is to keep plugging away at potential clients and try to introduce new ideas etc. But hey, if attacking potential customers coz some of them moan is the way forward then go for it. Just don't expect those empty seats to fill up any that's all.
We have been through all this before. The club drop the prices because fans were moaning, and a lot were. Then we get 8000 and it was give it time they will be back. I am afraid in the real world some cannot afford football, but there are a lot who can and cannot be bothered to get down to Oakwell. They will say they are entitled to their view, which they are but stop making excuses and blaming the Heirarchy. The buck stops with them and I bet they would not go if they agreed to fetch them
Sorry to be boring but I also back Don Rowing on this. For a start we don't know the context of the interview and was there some devilment in the reporter on what he asked. One thing I do know is Mr Rowing is always up there to be shot at as the face and voice of BFC.Is he always right?possibly not and he will be the first to acknowledge that but considering he virtually single handedly runs our club he hasn't done a bad job has he.On target to survive another year at Championship level on some of the lowest crowds in the division and yet again we will show a profit which will put us ahead of quite a few of our competitors next season.Just look at the massive debts of clubs like Bristol City,Ipswich etc.I for one believe we are a well run club with a lot to be thankful for.
David Flitcroft, Micky Mellon and Martin Scott appear to be the main reasons we have a fighting chance of survival. Appointed by default. Just saying.
That bloke's a total PR disaster. There are loads of examples where he's put his foot in it and this is yet another example. He get's on about fans moaning yet wvery time he's in the press, he's moaning like f*ck all the time - if he can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. I've no doubt he does a fantastic job behind the scenes and probably works as hard as anyone at the club, but he really should keep his gob shut when it comes to the marketing side. He's just not cut out for it. If anyone says that they don't like the way he's doing it he's too quick to have a go in the local press. He's probably never done a marketing course in his life but why doesn't he keep out of the press altogether and let someone with a bit more tact do it? Whether you agree with his sentiments 100% or not, that is not the way to entice anyone to come to see your product and he really should not be the face of Barnsley FC - he's not even from Barnsley for a kick-off.
