Just been out in the car, was a bit of a pain getting off the estate but the main roads were a lot better than I expected and I was easily/safely able to do the speed limit...until that is I got stuck behind a Shogun doing 10mph! They probably had no clue I was behind them and didn't even indicate when turning off the road - I'd say indicating in these conditions is an absolute must.

Thought it was a one-off with someone just being overly cautious, but then a few hundred yards down the road it happened again - and again this person didn't indicate off the road either.

If you can't drive in these conditions then stay off the road!

And I'd put money on that they had no headlights on either; either that, or all the lights were covered in snow as they couldn't be arsed to clear them.

you obviously dont like 4x4's and in your temper arnt a good judge of speed. In the title they are morons doing 5mph,then in the thread you were following them and they were doing 10mph.
would you like them to do 20 or 30 mph and possibly be unable to stop quick enough in an emergency situation?..if they were doing 30 or 40 in the snow then they'd be morons.

    I agree,they should indicate.;)

Totally agree mate. I dont have a problem driving in snow even when it's blizzard conditions over the Pennines. It's not the snow that causes the problem, it's the idiots who just can't drive in snow that cause the problems.

Well I was doing 10mph while trying to maintain a safe gap and was still catching them, I'd say driving too slow is just as dangerous as going too fast due to the amount of idiots on the road who insist on almost attaching themselves to the car in front's tow bar even in conditions like this.

People who fail to indicate bothers me a lot more than it should, really winds me up for some reason, especially in rush hour traffic when people just sit in the middle of the road waiting to turn into a junction on the right. Indicating un-necessarily drives me nuts as well, I've seen people indicate round bends!

I think a lot of it is 4x4 owners (the type who only use it for the school run) feel obliged to go out in this weather simply because they have a supposedly all-terrain vehicle - then the reality that it is still challenging to drive in hits them and they sh*t themselves.

Not really, I'm probably the funniest person I know!

I just wanted to get where I needed to go this morning and found the driving style of some people bizarre given that all four tyres were in direct contact with tarmac and not snow!

Youve got no idea how their vehicles handle in these conditions. Now do you really know if they were 4x4s. Big car doesnt mean 4x4.

Driving at the speed limit or at 10mph in these conditions. I know which sounds more dangerous to me.

I'll tell you what's worse! I have had a couple of 4x4s drive past me today at about 30 mph and both times the snow they kicked up hit my windscreen which sounded like bricks hitting it. Scared me to death! Pis,sed me of proper

I had the opposite problem yesterday pillocks driving too fast I slowed down for a blind bend and if I hadn't got round it when I did the young kind behind me wouldn't have had a prayer of stopping in those conditions, and he wasn't the only one

Are there any two wheel drive Shoguns?

Not sure I would like to be in an offroader on ice though. Sat high up in two tonnes of car you'd be like an elephant on skates. I've ended up in a flower bed in a four wheel drive before so I can vouch that they're not much help, traction wise.

4 wheel drive will only help, it provides no guarantees. You could have 8 wheel drive - if there's ice you're going nowhere. Better to be safe than sorry.
