Chelsea and England's Scott Golbourne is probably the only one i'd pick on current form. For me Cashley is still the best left back in world football.

Foreign players used to compliment our leagues, now they dominate it and the standard has dropped. It has also damaged our international sides. Foreign owners, foreign managers and foreign players = ***** England side. I don't mean to sound xenophobic, but it's true.

The England of Gazza, Shez & Shearer, Psycho etc is the last decent England side any of us are likely to see.

I agree to an extent but '66 aside we can't really claim to have had any great success at any point since football began.

Dunno, the 1990 side was good, probably our last real chance to win the World Cup, would be surprised if we win it again within the next 30 years, think we could sneak a Euro though...Eurovision that is!

I can't quite understand the adulation that Ashley Cole gets, for me Leighton Baines is the better option,a few weeks ago I read an article that said Baines had the highest number of assists of any player in the top four leagues of European football,Cole was nowhere on the list.

1990 side has always got a rosy hue because of the glorious defeat against W Germany. We were not very good against Egypt Eire and Cameroon. We played reasonably well against Belgium and Holland. Robson was getting dogs abuse before they went there.

Having said that they were far superior compared to the current team.

Last night reminded me of the displays in the dark days of the mid 70s

I agree with you entirely. I strongly believe that we are going the same way as Scotland. It's taken 20-odd years, but ever since Rangers and Celtic started spending ridiculous amounts to bring foreigners into their domestic game their international team has declined - they are now truly woeful as they are just not bringing through any home-grown talent.

At this rate we will be lucky to be regularly qualifying for the WC Finals and Euros in the next 10 years or so. And I'm not sure that I will really care, to be honest.
