was gonna say the same about Harbro Hills Club, who also will have lost money because up til then it had been designated an away fans pub and as many have said matches with Sheff Weds dont have a real history of violence
I understand less time in pubs before games but surely there is a far greater chance of hull fans being in town centre at same time as shoppers. Saturday mornings and lunch time are the busy shopping periods arent they? I would have thought that there would be less shoppers around for a 5:20pm kick off than a 3pm one. And also those who will be out drinking after the game must surely be using a train to get back to hull (as they cant be driving) so with a 5:20pm kick off there is only 1 hour and 20 minutes between the game ending and the last train to hull leaving. Not much time for drinking. With a 3pm kick off there is now 3 hours and 20 minutes to get p1ssed and cause trouble.
I think you are out of your depth on this one , you think they will be coming on the train ? barmy Can I have some of what you are on ?
how do you work that out then? they will just start earlier and drink the same, that's the way it usually works
Yes 6:00 am for a fishing trip and got rounded up by the resident Doberman as I walked through the door (can still smell the reaction to this day). Years before all day opening
The Don has 'cost' us far more than that with his marketing and PR strategy. Also, it hasn't "cost" the club £80k at all.
The £80k will be compensated by a much bigger crowd. We'll probably have a better chance of winning as well (arguable I know), which could be worth millions if it keeps us up.
Interestingly if my memory serves me correctly, you came to barnsley on the train you got escorted down t prince, metro dump or up sheff road. If you got in the town centre and you got spotted by plod you got escorted to one of the above. Nowadays it seems that the only people invited to leave a pub are barnsley fans. Lets be right, if roles were reversed and everyone turned up en mass in hull supping in excellent venues such as the bricklayers and other dumps on the way to the ground number side plod would have us removed no doubt under a hail of abuse etc and then get told serves you right. Further more SYP used to hold away fans back at the top of the metrodome until the home fans had thinned out. Likewise in hull you are held back for 'your own safety'.
