.............Nar then............dont know owt about the match against Wendy

But I'll guess that Wendy scored their 2 goals by over powering our central defence with their height and strength

Started reading match reports..........and its what I expected and what I predicted

So if i can see that..........why cant the manager..............i.e. Hassell at centre back FFS !!!!!!!!!
Some on here have been saying for years that he may have the skill.........but he's easily turned at full back.........and if he comes across a tall strong centre forward while he is playing centre back then he will lose

I said that we would lose.........not because we have worse footballers....but because Wendy are too physically strong for us
Jones plan.......even his signings mid-week indicated this........is that from here on in to the end of the season he is going to have his players hoof the ball into the middle
    Jones has no other option..............
Everytime we have come up against hoofball and tall strong centre forwards we have struggled this season...........Peterboro at home was a fine example ...................so why hasn't Keeeflicker and now Flicker sorted this weakness in our defence..........its plain to see that we are a Shackel away from a decent team

No its plain to see we are a central defender who can handle big rough lads away from a decent team....not Shackell

Having said that Hassell and Crainie were superb

Hassell will be the fall guy when the squad is selected for Monday though.

In the light of what people have posted since the end of the match...............obviously not

It seems that, as predicted,...........the lack of height and strength in central defence.............was indeed a major factor not to be ignored

On a more positive note............I cant think of any other team in the division that relys totally on basket 'foot' ball type players like Wendy does
So we may pick a considerable amount of points up where we least expect it......e.g. Cardiff

Well I thought it was a total no show from our defensive midfielder coupled with with little defensive support down the wings that cost us.

I think we all know Bobby will be dropped, but he and Cranie (especially) were solid and defended brilliantly. As did Wiseman, who at last appears to have grasped the nettle.

However, and as SuperTyke suggested, we were soft in central midfield, and O'Brien and Kennedy on the sides were weak, well below par.

I lost count of the times I and those around me pleaded for us to "get it ont deck"

When we did so, we were dangerous. But Kennedy especially, kept knocking long diagonal balls - easily snapped up by Gardner and Llera.

Not having a pop at Flitcroft, but I'm a little confused as to what we set out to achieve all week in training, because the feverish tackling/pressing wasn't there often enough, and our usual passing game was bypassed for long spells.

Let's hope it's the proverbial kick up the arse, eh?

Which proves a point............all great players...........but none of them could play central defence
Too small and light weight against tall, strong, English style centre forwards
Battering ram tactics (as used by Wendy) will cause Barnsley problems because we haven't got the players to deal with them
And if we do get relegated..........then those tactics are quite common in League 1
We needed a Shackel type at the begining of the season and we need a Shackel type now

Young Nudger I will listen and read constructive criticism from fans!!! Who attend but not utter ******** that you have just wrote. our lads played well yesterday and all they had to offer was manhandling and roughhouse crap. Our defence played well and took lito out of game. Carnie and Wiseman with Ethu plated well. Hassell although lacking height out jumped them all. Attend and watch, if not read off her what actually happened

    I attended under Keef
i haven't been to a match under Flicker.........but thats nowt to do with me not likeing Flicker, because in my opinion, as luck has it, Barnsley have discovered a great motivational manager.

However,.............it was obvious that we were short (in more ways than one) of a Shackel type while Keef was in charge
And it is obvious after reading comments on here after yesterdays match that this is still the case
For example your 'manhandling and roughhouse crap' comment.

    So............2 + 2 = 4

We need someone that can be wheeled out when we come up against power play teams like Wendy.
Fortunatly for Barnsley, there isnt many (any?) other teams in the Championship that play hooof ball to the extent that Wendy does.

Shackell was bloody rubbish in most matches, he cost us more goals than Wiseman has, yet you think he is the dogs ballox!!! Baffled !

Some folk have very very short memories.
The season before he was sold; Shackel actually kept us in the Championship.
He was often the difference in most games of us picking up at least a point.
Without him we would have lost those points.
Which of course explains why there was such an outcry on here when he was sold - especially when he was sold for a measly £1 million.
In my opinion we have not replaced this tall commanding centre half.
