We'll surely lose more (some say £6M?) if we are relegated than if we'd kept the lad and received a reduced/no fee?

There's got to be a point about short-sightedness here.

I admit that Goulbourne's injury couldn't have been foreseen, but losing both of them has cost us dear.

Considering our form since the turn of the year, I think it's quite difficult to attribute our demise if we do go down to anything other than a diabolical first half of the season.

Agreed, and in the short term I think the loss of Golbourne has been felt far more than the loss of Stones.

Got to agree so the only thing that the board can be blamed for was hanging on to Hill for too long. I didn't like the Stones deal but I don't think it will be a major factor in our relegation if we do go down.

Agreed mario. Flicker's turnaround has been incredible. It's just the teams around us are all winning. Mental. Hill hung around a month too long, but hey

Neither do I. Our record since he's been gone has been really good. Our record since Golbourne has been injured has been not as good. Barnsley's Ashley Cole has been the bigger loss. That on top of Keef getting far too long will cost us if anything.

Stones has been blown WAY out of proportion.. He was a decent, promising, young defender. The only reason I think Barnsley fans built him up as a saviour is because its been a lot of years since we had a competent defender at this level week in week out. The lads a prospect- he's not ready yet.

I also hope he's enjoying his money while he sits on a bench and plays in U21 games when he could have been playing week in week out at an important time in his career! Life's about more than money but you wouldn't think it the way these players carry on.

he wanted to go the moment a prem club came in for him, he didn't want to stay for the battle, we move on.

Just another dig at the club from him. Oh well.

Stones was a very good player for us in the 6 month was a first team player but we've not become a worse team since he left for Everton.
The club got very good money for him and he got a good deal too.

He'll become a very good full back or centre back in years to come but he can't be thinking that now in 2013.
