Those are the 3 new signings on this messageboard after a derby loss to one of our most bitter rivals. I can only see a few posts where people are genuinely upset about yesterday and all the rest are on the same theme of "ah well", "3 points on Monday", "on to the next game". What is wrong with you lot????? I once had a Barnsley team I felt proud of and I hoped they could get a result in every game - let's face it this lot cannot produce on a regular enough basis. We have papered over the cracks of the gulf in the Championship that money builds and we are not well enough run with enough financial clout to make a difference. We should have gone down last season but Portsmouth saved us from that and I have always seen this season as an unexpected extra one in the Championship. Apart from a couple of Cup runs and odd little surges of results the whole process, for me, of being back in the Championship has just become a wearing, draining, soul destroying process. We can't compete in the money stakes and we struggle to compete on the pitch. This was a hard loss to another relegation candidate and should not be brushed over as other teams around us are performing out of their skins. If we go down do we suddenly become a better proposition for a potential buy out or do we keep dropping like a stone? Players leave for a pittance of their value and we do seem a soft touch as a selling club. Mr Cryne is totally absent from any reports of what is happening or how we progress (I know he has a pending court case and his health to look after) and it seems that Don Rowing is the club mouthpiece. I am very worried where it would leave us if we drop into League One but I find it embarassing, frustrating and inevitable when looking at the results in the Championship every week. A shakeup is required but I have no idea where this is going to come from?
We have to keep faith however down we may feel. There is still everything to play for. I will be as gutted as the next fan if we are relegated, but our destiny is still in our own hands. We have had some cracking results since Flicker took-over. Win tomorrow and we'll all feel better.
Sorry for trying to keep upbeat. I shall now go and have a good cry and think about how unfortunate I am to support Barnsley.
The fact that other teams fight and get results and we perform poorly against a team in a similar position. I have no faith that we will beat the drop despite Flicker trying to achieve miracles - the damage was already done in hanging on to Hill too long. I have been totally numbed over the last few seasons and now treat the whole issue with the 3 words in my post title. The fabled masses will not suddenly descend on Oakwell as it is far easier to find other ways of filling the match day "experience".
Since Flicker has taken over managerial reigns, I think we have a lot to look forward to. His track record is superb, he's uniting the team with the fans and he's given us a chance of staying up (if we do get relegated, the man to take the blame is Keith Hill.......******* useless). Off the field, BFC does need investment and bringing into the moden business world.
Reckon Flicker ought to get you in as a motivational speaker before Mondays game, tell them all they're not doing well enough for being near the top of the form table. We were the better team but lost away in a derby, its gone, get over it
So you don't think we're fighting for and getting results? Have you seen our PPG average since Flicker took over? They're giving everything they've got. Come tomorrow afternoon, we could be back above Wednesday again and out of the bottom three. Stay positive
League table will change after each game.......like you say, keep positive. I hate losing to Owls......but that is simply one game.......let's see where we end up after 46 games.
Talk before Christmas was about potential takeover long run that remains the key to the clubs future but after not knowing when next win was coming from earlier in season only fantastic form from Peterboro and the Owls means we are still in trouble.
The good thing is we have a game tomorrow to put it right. If not, we would be dwelling on it until next weekend. That said, we cannot lose tomorrow. Be worried after that.
I take it you're quite young with your comment about once having a team to be proud of (Premiership season) I'm guessing.I don't find anything embarrassing about my team at the moment ,they're playing with fight, passion and no little skill and averaging points at a rate that will be enough to see us to safety. With all respect the only thing I find embarrassing is your infantile defeatist attitude to our situation. As supporters the players need us to back up the positivity they're showing. The teams up for the battle and we (the fans)have to make sure we are too.
That made me chuckle - quite young - I was going when Clarkey was player / manager. I am harking back to earlier days than the Prem season when Barnsley players gave their all. It just doesn't happen any more - regularly seeing the yearly battle against the drop is depressing and not what I call entertainment. I am not being infantile - just stating the facts that some people cannot face. The team, the setup at Oakwell and the present board or lack of do not make for a successful Championship effort. We have some players (brought in by Hill and Flitcroft) who are struggling with the demands of the Championship and the effort that Flicker gets out of them astounds me. BUT the facts will not lie and, despite the turnaround in some of the performances, I just feel it is expecting too much of some players, that are not good enough at Championship level, to see this battle through.
These players who you say aren't good enough for Championship level are part of one of the three form teams in this division. For me it's an absolute pleasure watching this team week in week out playing with pride and passion for our club.No embarrassment for me watching these lads. We'll not win every game because we are part of one of the best leagues in European football but we have enough about us to get the results required to compete next season at this level.(Sorry for assuming you were a young un)
I'm with Puppy on this one. Is it.............A Bridge Too Far ??? Valient effort by Flicker and the players to try and salvage something from this season BUT...........what about next season............we all know PC did a great job saving the club and he got us back to the Championship. But since then we have sat in the bottom 6 year after year after year............the supporters are well and truely pissssed off with this never ending struggle (hence the dropping attendances)
Until yesterdays match we had under Flitcroft the highest PPG in the whole Championship...bar none even after Saturday ...1.91ppg we are second only to Watford..1.92ppg
