Me and Mario were West standers when we were kids. Been going in the ponty for nigh on 20 years now though, purely for the atmosphere. It's feckin boring in the west. I like to make some noise and it's not allowed in the west.
I think the 'West Stand' signs above the turnstiles are a bit of a giveaway, and the fact they back on to the West Stand. But you have made me chuckle, so cheers Hemsworthington.
Plus there is a great massive white line painted on the wall to show which turnstiles are for west and ponty..
I sit in West Upper with mi cousin. (I'm not homosexual, Dyson, but i can't speak for cuz...) Missed goals against Leeds and Brighton cos of those bleedin stantions! Can't see the scoreboard either which is a REAL downer. Anyway, we have someone in front who regularly contributes "GO FORWARD!" and "KICK IT!", so the 'Thinking man's stand' tag takes a body blow there.
He was probably aiming his greeting towards the Ponty End goals, but just like his shots, it ended up in the West Stand !!!
I cunningly select a seat that produces a satisfactory stantion free angle between myself and the goals. Though I did miss a nifty tackle in midfield recently by I think that lad Perkins. A dangling security camera has been providing some annoyance of late. The one fixed on the directors box, commentary position and a handful of elderly fans, in case it kicks off.
