Excuse my ignorance but my shopping online do you mean using the main supermarkets online and having it delivered? I didn't know their online prices were cheaper?

    **** off the big supermarkets.

Get to lidl aldi etc and you'll save that way and very often you'll get better value.

Sorry for all the posts, I love saving money haha!

What about branded things? Non brand food doesn't taste all that different tbh (except fish fingers, cheap ones are rank!) I lived off it for 4 years at uni and never did me any harm - infact I still am now. Same with washing up liquid/dishwasher tabs/handwash/tissues/toilet paper etc.

They're not (and you'll have to get delivery at some ungodly hour to save on delivery costs), but you won't impulse shop. Set yourself a list up and just get repeat deliveries of that - no more throwing yummies in the trolley as you wander around. (I've never shopped online, did try it once and hated it and then was shocked at delivery cost but people at work swear by it for saving money).

It's not that the products are cheaper, but you only buy what you need. No impulse purchases. Also, decide what your going to have for each meal. We started doing that and we never chuck food away now.

    Hi Norfolkred. Ok here goes!
You can save money on both mobiles and car insurance. O2 offer small business deals for mobiles on great rates, they don't need proof either! Just tell them you want business contracts and you will great deals. I saved me and the Mrs 15quid a month by switching to business contracts and we get unlimited calls to all o2.
The same goes for car insurance, i put both cars onto business insurance for me and the Mrs. We both get no claims but can drive either car fully comp for 300 a year. We are both self employed but noone checks! And the companies would have to prove you aren't rather than you prove thatyou are, if you know what i mean!

Yep, that's a good one too. Also I bulk buy where possible, if there's a good deal on on non perishables I buy an embarrassing amount and store them away. Look at the reduced 'last chance' area of supermarkets too. If you time it right just as they reduce it there's loads of stuff, generally all from the fridge sections but they all have the suitable for home freezing label. Can get loads of meals cheap like that. You wouldn't want to be stuck with that all the time of course but you can get things well over half price.

All good suggestions, thanks and keep the coming. Baby crying now, daddy duties call - time for a branded nappy change (own brand nappies = leakage!!!)

You're going to hate me but... towelling nappies!!! Could save you literally hundreds of pounds, nappies are so expensive. I know it sounds horrible but before disposables it was all the rage, and think of the good you will do the environment too (except all the extra washing of course).

Get yourself loads of resealable storage tubs like your Chinese comes in and knock up loads of ready meals.. Curries. Sweet n sour etc and freeze them.

Used to cost me 14 quid to make a lasagne which a normal person could get 8+ portions out of.

Used to make sweet & sour to feed 10 then break it down, cost was if you knew where to buy your stuff 12-13 quid plus a bag of rice a day for ten bob.

Summer fodder is about a tenner a week as I don't eat as much in the summer.

And have porridge for breakfast. Kills snacking.

I just checked how much Sky is, I don't know if you're on a special offer with having broadband but the complete TV package is £55.50 a month. Drop that, halve your phone contracts and your looking at £95 saving a month just from that alone. (Or it's only £21 for broadband, basic tv and talk package, but that might just be for new customers). Take a few packed lunches to work and your laughing all the way to the bank.

To be fair, although I do tend to purchase from m&s my ready meals for work, generally I feel the quality of the food on offer especially the perishables doesn't stand up to that from say a budget supermarket like lidl or even the indoor market it's self.

Also value for money, m&s is starting to fall behind, Christmas apart it's not seemed at busy around the food halls and that includes the one at meadow hell not just barnsley.
