    Dont believe the Tory lies

    http://www.blog.rippedoffbritons.com/2012/12/liebrary-is-uk-national-debt-at.html

The national debt is not that high historically, and for most of the last Labour Government was running at a very sustainable 60-70% of GDP. There was a massive spike starting in 2008, caused by a worldwide credit crunch and banking crisis, whereby we poured billions of public money in paying for private risks the banks took. Now we can argue about the legitimacy of this decision, but lets not pretend that suddenly millions more welfare claiments have appeared and ballooned our national debt or that it is at either at unprecidented or unsustainable levels because it isn't.

Both good and relevant points which are however, lost on the wider populace, and either conveniently ignored or lost on the Tory apologists on here.

The media are helping the Tories no end in this quest in return for letting them print what ever Murdoch and his chums feel like

I sense we're starting to get into Robin Hood/French Revolution territory with this current government. At what point do we take to the streets?

Unfortunately mate, ordinary people don't tend to protest on the streets like they used to, and when they do its the Trade Unions and other minor political groups and such that do the organising, making them easy targets for the Tory popular press propaganda. I speak from experience.

Almost goes without saying Marlon. I cringe when I see people wearing overalls and other work-type clothes coming out of the newsagents with papers such as the sun and the mail in their hands.

I was thinking more along the lines of storming the Bastille.

Nice area of Paris now the Bastille. Loads of pubs all doing happy hours. If we're going storming I can't think of a better place to do it.

What a load of exaggeration, if the Conservatives were the far right-wing party people say they wouldn't have supported the NHS like they have for 70 years and places like Barnsley and many other post-industrial towns would just be left to go to the wall as is the case in the U.S. in places like Detroit, Gary and Flint. Instead the population of post-industrial towns in the North are supported by benefits which are getting out of hand and they've had to be cut.

Why are people on benefit the new social outcasts? There are some who abuse the system , as mp's did with their expenses , but a lot are genuinely needed. When did spotlight move from bankers who caused all this in the first place. Interesting political storm caused over the benefits this week has buried the tax cut for rich story! All in it together?

Because the media has controlled the sheep into believing what they read, and the government are obviously feeding the media.
