We have just received a message from the family of Bob Gray (oldtimer1928). Bob sadly passed away on Sunday. Bob was always a true gentleman & great contributor to the BBS, with his many anecdotes from yesteryear. He maintained a positive attitude, despite failing health and the loss of his wife. R.I.P. Bob. You were one of the finest examples of the quality of man produced by our town. Condolences to the Gray family From The Herring family.
Same for me too...sorry to hear it,I always read his posts with interest, good bloke of the old school!!
Rest in peace Bob. I spoke to him many times on email and on the phone- and who could forget his YouTube hits! I have a picture of him on the pitch when get attended a do in the exec - I think it was his 80th birthday. Will try and dig it out.
I never knew him in real life, but from his posts on here he seemed a true gent and I always used to look forward to reading his posts. RIP
Very sad news indeed. Bob was a real character, even more so in real life and has been missed since his health deteriorated to an extent it made it impossible for him to post. Condolences to the Gray family. Kev please let us know the funeral arrangements. I'm sure we'd like to send flowers etc or a donation as per the families wishes. Here's a photo from his 80th birthday bash, that was organised in the legends suite, of Bob kissing the hallowed turf.
Didn't know Bob personally but really enjoyed reading his posts of yesteryear around Birdwell & Jump and in the army. Had a nack of making you feel like you were there such was his story telling. RIP Bob a true gent.
