how on earth do you get commentary using the FL app. I gave up on tuesday at work and went back to using the photon app on my iphone, which isn't ideal
Yes via the football league app. Also works with Photon browser but I guess theres no need to use that anymore now that player is on the football league app.
I think you've probably got your answer from all the comments. It's excellent value and the club puts loads of decent content on there as well as the match commentary. One other thing to consider is that because of the way the deal for advertising etc is done with the football league, the club actually receive more in revenue for your subscription that you will actually pay. The more player subscriptions they get, the bigger share of the pot they get. Its a great way of supporting the club financially and you also get a great service out of it.
The one thing that winds me up is you can get all the video content through the app (for an extra charge) but not the live radio commentary which, for me, makes it all a bit pointless. I can listen through the main site on my phone but on the app would be easier.
Don't think its an extra charge anymore. I believe it uses your player subscription. Having said that I also thought the commentary was on there now as well.
For people not sure how to listen to commentary on the FL app: I wasted the first 20mins of the Palace game trying to figure this out. Some people have mentioned a 'play' icon but I never saw that. After I logged in and chose Barnsley as my favourite team I just then had to click on the fixture at the top and the commentary started after about a 15 sec delay (I had bad signal though). Everytime I clicked the badge of either team where it said Crystal Palace v Barnsley at the top then it refreshed and the commentary started. I couldn't get Barnsley commentary for love nor money though; no matter which team's badge I clicked it kept giving me Palace radio.
Absolutely brilliant service, if you ignore the technical hitches that sometimes occur. Some trivial bits (e.g. live scores, live table, text commentary etc during matches) don't work but all that is available elsewhere anyway. Most matches are available in full shortly after games, together with highlights, interviews etc. Had it for years, superb value.
Definitely not got it mate. Tried Tuesday night. Just video content. Didn't realise they weren't charging me anymore. Magic.
So it's telling me. I've just cancelled my subscription on the app so we'll see if it still works... By the way it's Android which is probably why.
Is that the app to convert content for iphone? I need that. Another point, how does the club earn from hits to the official site. I have the site set as the default site on my browser, so every time I open safari or a new window it takes me to the front page of the BFC site. Do all these count as hits? If so I'm on about 20 a day!
can i get the Barnsley Player live commentries over here in the states, when were on dee daar i get all the build up but when its time for commentry it tells me due to location this content is unavailable. thats even with stealth downloaded on firefox. but i can get 5 live via stealth on firefox weird
You can't get Radio Sheffield commentaries live on the internet in this country. They don't have a licence for them.
thats why i have stealth on firefox it creates you a UK ip address, it works on 5 live but can never get deedaar to work
