Disgraceful decision by a license fee funded organisation. It's not racist, full of expletives, glorifying violence or anything like that so if enough people buy the song to put it in the charts then the chart show should be playing it. I can’t understand how it is anything close to being a ‘difficult decision’ to make.

People seem to forget she was voted in as PM 3 times, so not everyone shares/ed the same opinion.

Difficult in the position the BBC are in. No doubts Call Me Dave has had a word and told them that Murdoch is always ready to take over....

Yet the song is less than 1 minute long.

    Keep buying it/downloading it.

Unfortunately the BBC have a track record in bending over and taking a fat one from this government - the suits fell over themselves to agree to a freeze in the licence fee before Jeremy 'Rhyming Slang' Hunt even mentioned the word 'cuts'. Personally, I think playing a short bit of the song and having someone explain exactly why it's in the charts has more resonance than playing the whole thing and saying 'nowt. Not sure Radio 1's demographic would have otherwise understood the significance!

Not everyone shares the same opinion and many find the rejoicing in the death of another human life disturbing.

Dislike her politics, but in death everyone deserves a degree of respect.

Are we living in North Korea ??????????

We now have to only buy approved records, think in a way that agrees with the establishment and if you are wronged by the powers that be then you must just accept it,bow your head and keep your mouth, eyes and mind shut !

Either they are totally deluded and really think the majority supported her and mourn her (b0ll0ck$), They are just stupid and think no one will care (b0ll0ck$ again) or they are doing it just to stick two fingers up at the masses of people who hated her and her kind and will be happy to know she's rotting in hell (nearer the mark me thinks;))

The hate continues from the grave

It's nonsense really, all this witch stuff. I'm a great believer in when you are offered the higher moral ground, you take it. All this party crap is undignified and nothing has changed, so to celebrate is ridiculous. We should be above all that. Yes, remind ourselves what a vicious, heartless thug she was, but do so with a bit of self respect and decorum. Otherwise, what was that all for? To turn into a bunch of gloating prlcks just like them? No thanks.

The BBC is a public body, it serves everyone and they have done the right thing by finding a compromise. It is news, so there it remains. They haven't banned it but there are other considerations to observe, even if we don't agree. They are doing the right thing by what they stand for.

The song itself isn't about Maggie Thatcher and I think it is disgusting that the writer and artists involved should miss out on the same rights and recognition as every other artist simply because SOME people have purchased the song because of Thatcher. I know for a fact that not everybody bought it for that reason, some bought it because it is catchy and once they had heard it and seen it advertised they decided to download it.

Even if it was for the reason of hating Thatcher that isn't the point in my opinion as that is quite simply NOT the intention nor the focus of the song. You can't go around banning innocent things simply because some people might enjoy it for 'the wrong' reasons. If that was the case we'd have to ban 'one born every minute' because some people get turned on by it and watch it for erotic purposes.

I couldn't disagree more if I tried. I think that suddenly respecting somebody just because they have died when you have hated them and disrespected them their entire life is nothing short of hypocritical. I also feel it is an absolutely crazy notion to suggest that the likes of myra hindley deserve respect in her death after the things she did. She never afforded Keith Bennett that respect after his death but we should give her respect? Not a chance.

i thought this Radio Show was for the most popular songs in that week.

But now it's a chart of the songs that's popular but the BBC must like them too. When did this happen and certain MP's dare comment about dictatorship around the world.

What the BBC and i guess it's from the Governments directive are doing controlling what we listen to in this country.

If this had happened in any other country our government would've gone mad, disgraceful decision.
