Obviously we are going to lose both Kennedy and Dawson to suspension, but Foster and Wiseman are injured too. Foster looked totally knackered, while it seemed to me that Wiseman had done his hamstring in. I can't see either being fit for Tuesday, which means we're going to struggle to put out a team. Today was a nightmare, everything that could go wrong went wrong. As far as the performance goes I think you can put a lot of the mistakes down to fatigue. We looked tired. The team have put so much in to it these last few weeks and it finally caught up with them today. Once it started going wrong things just fell apart. There is one incident I'd like to talk about though. We're 4-0 down, the game is lost. The last thing we need is someone putting in a silly challenge and us getting a player suspended. So what does Dawson do, he jumps in with two feet. Madness. For me, that was the moment we were relegated. Dawson is now suspended for three games, Etuhu is still injured and Perkins is out on his feet. We haven't got a midfield.
Oh dear, oh dear. Emergency loans a possibility? At least Cranie is back. We're going to have to play 3-3-4.
Re: Foster out of Tuesday's match I'd be very surprised if Wiseman isn't out too. He was really struggling.
Do suspensions kick in instantly? Just seen someone on Twitter speculate that they'll come in to p,ay after the game on Tuesday?
Total catastrophe I don't think I can remember a day when so much went wrong obviously the results in the other games couldn't have gone worse either Somehow flicker has to pick us up for Tuesday I can't see how he will do it but we have to bounce back somehow
Re: Do suspensions kick in instantly? Straight away. I think we need to sign gardner on a one month deal to play left back. Steele Hassell - cranie - mcnulty - gardner Obrien - Mellis - perkins - cywka Scotland - ogrady
Don't think so I think they start straight away unless we appeal but hard to see grounds for that even if I thought both were harsh
Re: Do suspensions kick in instantly? Is McNulty back? If we can't bring anyone in: Steele Hassell Cranie McNulty O'Brien Perkins Mellis Cywka Dagnall O'Grady Scotland Wigan style?
Re: Do suspensions kick in instantly? Just like the Liverpool home game on the run in to the end of the Prem season proved definitive this defeat could well signal the end of the road for our survival hopes. Suspensions from straight reds alongside injuries means we'll be putting out make shift teams for the next 3 games.
Re: Do suspensions kick in instantly? Said exactly the same myself - feels very much like the Liverpool game, the circumstances are pretty similar - after a number of games of playing ourself into contention for survival, everything falls apart in one afternoon. I so much hope I am wrong and I hope we pull 3 points out of somewhere on Tuesday, but in all honesty I think we'll go down now - I wouldn't bet against us.
Bobby Hassell said in his post match interview that we are 6 players down from today, 2 suspensions and 4 injuries including himself. Foster definitely out with a calf problem, Wiseman and Bobby struggling, can't remember who the other one was. Roll call tomorrow morning. Adversity will bring out the best on Tuesday in what I think are a great set of players.
Hope our decision not to strnghthen in the loan window isn't gonna haunt, us the spirit and endeavour is plain to see but quantity of staff could end up being a factor
I think they're a great set of players too. Since Flicker took over this has been one of my favourite half seasons in all the time I've been watching Barnsley. I've got nothing but praise for the manager and all the players. Even today I couldn't get angry because I thought they still tried. It was only Dawson with a moment of madness who let the side down. But I think they've given their all and it's caught up with them. In any normal season it would have been enough, but in this weird season I think we may fall short. I think the injuries and suspensions from today may have done it for us. Of course, I wouldn't be saying that if I was the manager and I'll still be down at Oakwell on Tuesday cheering the lads on and hoping for a victory, but the team has been decimated.
Re: Do suspensions kick in instantly? Yeah we need a gardener on a one month deal. I think we should go for Alan Titchmarsh as a local guy.
This sums up my feelings. Hearing some of the fans still singing at 5-0 and 6-0, and encouraging the players at full time, gave me some hope that the majority at least understand. I think most of the morons has long since gone home. We were 6-0 down and according to the bloke in front of me, it was all down to Mellis. Staggering. I'm not sure mockingly cheering Steele when he picked the ball up at 4-0 down was particularly helpful either, he certainly didn't seem to like it. The players and Flitcroft have put in a super-human effort since January - they're going to have to find even more in the next 4 games.
All brought on by two 400 mile round trips in 4 days this is why you get groin and hamstrings problems. Saunders complained bitterly about schedule and it has cost Wolves with players injured.
