I'm going to have to watch this again because at the game I thought it was as clear cut a red card as you could get.
He seems to slide in with one leg and not be particularly off the ground. I've seen far worse go unpunished. Mind you I've only seen it on tv
I was the same as you at the game but I had a lot more doubt once I saw it on TV. Felt as if a yellow would have been sufficient. Only 1 foot went in for the challenge, though both feet were initially off the floor.
I would appeal but only to play the system and have him available for Tuesday because he has no chance of getting the red card rescinded.
Apparently Kennedy will only get 1 game? So I wouldn't appeal that. Daws is ****** anyway now. I'd appeal that one and have him available Tuesday. I hope he's apologised to everyone he's let down
Just watched it, my view at the game was it shouldn't have been a red card and watching it again hasn't changed my mind.
Just watched it again. It didn't look as bad as it did at the game. However, he definitely left the ground, he definitely missed the ball and he definitely caught the man. It's a bad challenge and it's definitely worth at least a booking. Some refs will see it as a sending off, some won't. You're right that there's an argument he shouldn't have been sent off, but I don't think we can complain too much because it was reckless.
Agreed. Also agree with you saying you thought it was a red card at the time, so it's understandable why the referee thought the same.
I just watched it again and I have the same view as I did at the time - poor challenge and a yellow card - though occasionally some refs will give a red. The fact that the ref let Charlton get away with a worse 2 footed challenge in the first half and many other poor challenges without any cards is what really annoys me. Having seen Kennedys again - no complaints Fuller was through on goal and would have been 1 on 1 with Steele
Poor technique from a player who isn't Championship quality. I know he's a popular player because he gives 100% every game but these days you just don't even attempt that type of tackle.
I think he's Championship quality and would say majority of REDS fans think the same. Although I have to agree that he needs more control in his tackles, as it has/will cost us games.
I didn't see Kennedy's sending off I was on my way to the loo so I can say. As for Dawson's I didn't think it was a bad challenge at all. I've not seen the TV footage yet.
You see much worse challenges from Premier League players all the time. It's nothing to do with the level.
As soon as you slide in like that you give a trigger happy ref an excuse. I would say you never need to make a desperate lunge like that in midfield any more, the game's changed.
I think the ref just forgot to bring his yellows so he either had to ignore (like their number 44s efforts) or if he really couldn't then send off.
Yeah, but we saw two reckless challenges yesterday and one got a red and the other one got NOTHING. That is my issue.
