Just listened to him on the North West version of Late Kick Off. Talked highly of us. Says he has a lot of time for us and enjoyed managing us at this level. Mentioned the majority of Championship clubs' over-spending isn't fair on proper clubs like "us". He kept saying "our" and "we" when referring to BFC. Agreed that we always had the players, and said he's pleased for Flicker and us that we've turned it around. Hopes we retain our status. Says he's close to agreeing a 3 year deal as permanent Rochdale boss, possibly announced tomorrow. But says his ambition remains, and wants to get back to our level. Fair play to the bloke. Could have been bitter/angry/gobby etc.
Odd that he suddenly likes the club now that he's back at Rochdale. While he was here all he did was slate the fans, criticise the board, insult the owner, tell everyone how badly run we were, that we had no ambition, that he wasn't backed, that it was nowhere near as good as rochdale and how even if he got us relegated with 6 points for the entire season it would be a massive achievement for such a **** club as ourselves. But now he's gone he has a lot of time for us? Didn't have any fecking time for us when he was crying about having to work wednesdays did he
And pre december 2011 as well. Had a good 2 months when things clicked but also had a terrible what 14 months? when it didnt.
He was being respectful. Probably because his mate is manager now, and he signed most of the players. We all know what went off, and I agree he failed spectacularly in the last 12 months, on all fronts pretty much. But fair play to him for that interview.
He got the results part of football, wrong.. A lot of other stuff wrong, too. But he got a lot right.
