Mind Boggling, makes you wonder what other sites there are. Off cuff we may get one of Oakwell in 10 years time when Don has retired
Went to a ghost town called Bodie in Nevada. It was only occupied for about 60 years or so and had 8,000 residents at the peak. Fascinating place http://www.ghosttowngallery.com/htme/bodie.htm
I went there earlier this year. My wife is a teacher and is taking her class on a residential in the summer. We went there for a reccy. I can confirm it's definitely not abandoned. It looked in a good state of repair to me. It was a vibrant place full of kids. It's even got its own fully working green sewerage system.
I watched a new river mosters programme on animal planet last night and jeremy wade or whatever hes called was in Prypiat. He was walking round town with his gygorcounter meter on and an alarm, to tell if the radiation exposure was too much. the place will never ever be inhabited again. He was fishing in one of Chernobyls cooling ponds, for wels catfish. No one had ever fished there since the Chernobyl disaster, as you have to get special permittion and go through 6 check points, all different levels of security. They wanted to analyse the cat fish for radiation and mutantness. It was extremly interesting to watch and seee this huge ghost town.
