......................Britain needed changing and she was strong enough to change Britain for the better at that time
No other politician within the Conservative or Labour Parties were capable of doing this

However, when she came to closing the pits she trampled on me and thousands of others in her attempt to get at and defeat Arthur Scargill and the NUM.
Instead of spending £££ 6 BILLION on a national police force all she needed to do is put notices up at each pit asking for voluntary redundancies.
Give the miners a chance to take a decent amount of money away with them (which they did in the end) and she could have shut the pits by bypassing the NUM. Consequently there would not have been any bother. Instead we had 12 months of turmoil. It was like living in an occupied country. I can understand now how the Catholics feel in Northern Ireland.

Some miners enjoyed those 12 months away from not going underground. I didn't enjoy it.
I was a single bloke living on my own at the time of the strike. I spent 12 months on strike. I didnt get a penny from anywhere. Some days I had nothing to eat.

So in conclusion..........people say that you either hated Maggie or you loved her.
I didn't do either..........meet someone that is actually neutral when it comes to Maggie - she got me out of the pit which is great, she made Britain a better place..........but in doing so she trampled on me and the community where I live. My community and many like it throughout Britain has still not fully recovered after all these years.

How did she make Britain a better place by trampling on your community?

Very well put Nudge....please ignore the "ramblings" of people who didn't have to endure what that woman did to our livelihoods and communities.....they really don't have a clue at all.

She changed the country alright she enabled every greedy bstd in Britain to fill their boots to the detriment of the less well off. She raped and pillaged our communities then left us to rot.she left Liverpool to (in her words ) managed decline. She was what everything that is wrong in the world today Grab Now Fek the consequences the woman was rotteness personified
You judge her by what she did wrong to you not mentioning the wrongs to others like calling the anti apartheid movement and mandella terrorists, the sheltering of Pinochet who made Hitler look human.no she changed the country not for better but for the few she didn't do one significant thing in her time as pm that helps struggling people or their communities .Clement Atlee created the N H S Thatcher doesn't come near the accolades that he should have.the.

If that's the case then i can't understand why you would consider Nudge's post the "ramblings of a madman"........no need for the language btw.

His posting is littered of contradictions.

Every need for the language. I had to endure more than i should have at the age of 12/13. Not to mention other personal stuff affecting my family of which i do not wish to share on a public forum.

so, you only suffered from pit closure's and thatcher's britain if you worked down a pit then? sounds like you were one of the lucky ones buddy. you really need to think about the assumptions you are making, and the words you are using, about the effects of thatcher's britain on other people.

you're bang out of order there pal
