I was just about to ask, do any top end Championship or Premier League clubs use this model? if so who, if not why not? its ok being kind of selfish and saying lets follow the Bradford/Darlington/Keighley Cougers model because it will save some fans a bit of money, but this looks to me like we would probably be paying peanuts to watch us play against Bradford/Darlington/Keighley Cougers. Keep it simple Season Ticket prices same as this year - Bargain Straight £18 Adults/£9 kids/£9 OAPS pay on the day and pre bought tickets - Clearly Advertised The odd well advertised special offer during the season, for example if we have a run of a few home games in a month or quick succession or another reason Add to that reasonably priced and good quality food and drink in the ground and that's it really, why over complicate things, the club have been chastised recently for over complicating things
I still maintain a £150, ten-game flexi-ticket would fit the bill for lots of folk - me for certain. I struggle to get to more than two or three Saturday games, midweeks are usually okay, but I'd take a punt straightaway on summat like that. Obviously you'd have to give some notice which games you wanted - couldn't just rock up to a full-house (some hope!) and expect to get in.
I've suggested that to the club on a couple of occasions in the past. They have turned it down flat, and the reason given was that such people would pay on the gate and income would therefore rise. I argued two things - 1) the price for a flexi ticket would be higher (per game) than a full season ticket, and 2) once you stop getting a season ticket there is a huge danger you get out of the "habit" of going. I'm not getting a season ticket next season because I miss too many matches. I will make the same suggestion to the club again about a flexi ticket. Will be interesting to see what they say this time. By the way, none of the above is related to the "which division will we be in" question.
Not true in my case. I get to maybe five home games a season, six if we get a rearranged Tuesday fixture, but I'd stump up for ten in advance if there was that option and fight tooth and nail to get to the extra games. Club would be better off financially whether I made those games or not.
Whatever the mathematics of it something has to be done to stop the dwindling crowds. I believe it is getting simply too expensive and that is a major factor, but the club needs new innovative and creative systems to try to improve things. Simply doing what they do now is not an option as it is plain to see that it is not working.
To be honest the first thing that needs to happen is to invest in electronic ticketing. Until they do that they'll never have the data to allow them to make an educated decision RE # of Saturday only fans etc.
Agree completely. I've seen at first hand the operation at SWFC and the level of targeting they could have if they wanted to is staggering. When you compare that with ours...
