Hull fans over the allocation they have sold.
    Under fives.
Anyone who has not previously been registered by BBC as previously buying a ticket.
Anyone who hasn't bought a ticket before 11am on Saturday.

... and that is what is wrong with football these days. No spontaneity. No, ooh what shall I do today, I'll go to the game. ....

I understand the policing, and that the club is operating within tight reigns, but the Hull game could easily have been a big crowd, but we might not break 15 k
    It's crazy.

It's our biggest home game in years so to be fair our fans should know by friday if they want to attend anyway. It's not an everyday home game where you decide on the day. Police couldn't take the risk of Dull fans in our ends and ending up being added to the recent bad list of Millwall, Newcastle and Stockport.

I get all that, but how frustrating is it that we have to turn away thousands of fans and thousands of pounds?
Football club, short on visitors turning folks away....
Maybe I'm being too nostalgic, but I remember getting permission late on, to attend the Barnsley v Grimsby promotion game. 21,000 there. Pay on the gate. We just turned up.

All I'm saying is that in an economic climate wher folks can't pre plan their spending, clubs (not just Barnsley) seem to make it increasingly difficult and expensive to just turn up for a game.

I take your point re this "and that is what is wrong with football these days. No spontaneity. No, ooh what shall I do today, I'll go to the game." In the early 1980s a group of us would go to other local games if the Reds weren't playing or perhaps playing a long way and we couldn't get to the game. It was certainly an eye-opener being a neutral in with the home fans. Wonder how many neutrals this has put=off coming on saturday.

But if we'd have been playing Man Utd they'd have made time to get down for tickets.

Entirely agree. The 77,000 fans at Old Trafford all struggle to get tickets before match day.

Its easy to get a ticket, even up to the day of the match.

We can't allow scummy Hull fans the opportunity to get into the home end. Not the best type of folk to be given the chance to get in

Funnily enough, 4 neutrals are coming on Saturday, because they remembered I am a Season Ticket holder. They had made enquiries to buy tickets but because they weren't on the BFC register they needed someone to "vouch" for them.

Tell me what other business turns away new customers on that basis? Our Stadium is empty but we are in a situation where we can't accept passing trade.

That is what is wrong with football ..... not just Barnsley, but football in general.

Instead of whinging to the press about not being allowed to give Dull a couple more thousand, we should be fighting it rather than accepting it. Pay on the day would have only worked had we allowed them to have their extra tickets. If not we'd have ended up with hundreds easily coming down and paying for our ends, resulting in more work for the police/stewards when our fans kick off about it.

Where have all these people so keen to watch a spontaneous game of football the previous 44 games where it was perfectly fine to turn up on the gate?

Also if you can't see the logic in limiting the number of Hull fans then you have issues- do you really think if they were to win and quite possibly send us down while singing about having to fill our stadium for us it would be amicable?

I missed the kick off for that game was about 10 mins late into the ground and finished up standing in the corner between the ponty and brewery stands was always going though its just the crowds too us by surprise and we didnt leave enough time. At the time that was a 4th division record crowd

but to your original point I can see why this game is all ticket - and am pleased the police didnt allow Hull to have the West Stand - though I dont understand why they can only have 5000 seats in a 6000 seater stand.
Dont know why the game couldnt be on Sky at 5:20 pm either

    Me, because I'm working

    Otherwise I'd be there.

Might go to Hudds if we're still in with a shout.

    More time for ale.

More ale = more pissed up people.

More pissed up people = higher chance of 'disorder'.

Easy to see why police wouldn't let it happen.

Could also be argued that a evening kick off means less folk travelling cos they can watch it in the pub.

And to be fair, kick off times irrelevant given then last few games v hull at oakwell have seen some fisticuffs

Was nowhere near a record crowd mate. It was a record for that season and way above the norm but I remember Crystal Palace v Millwall getting 37,000 for a fourth Division game in about 1961. Palace avergaed over 19,000 that season in Division 4 - remarkable by today's standards.
