Is becoming negative all of a sudden. Come on you Reds, Focus, Determination and Graft and we will win our final 2 games
It sounds very much like go down and we're in meltdown. This is the payoff for our lack of ambition across the last 7 years.
I don't want to breed negativity, I think the Club is trying to manage expectations for the next two games, I feel it's the wrong time to do this.
That your point is rubbish. Although after reading it 7 times ive come to the conclusion that the previous 6 seasons are whats lead us to the slim possibility of relegation. In fact it could be the missed penalty by darren barnard that ultimately lead us to this point. Or any point in the past 100 years. We're a smaller club than most in the championship, trying to stand on our own two feet, doing things the right way with the right man at the helm now. And although there may be small issues that could be worked out id rather have the lack of ambition leading to relegation battles until a golden period and not some ****tish sheikh having a laugh with the club for a couple of years spending obscene amounts. But yeah lack of ambition. Nailed it.
My point is that it's bad timing to become negative, the Don is dishing out negative jibes saying 'if we go down the it's because of the poor form before Christmas etc' Poor timing going into a crucial 2 games
That's a rather extreme reaction, FlickersSack. I'm not saying we should have had a sugar daddy type benefactor. We've seen how that can go, er, wrong. But in football, as with any business, you have to make some type of investment in order to grow. When you stand still, you end up falling behind. That might have simply been holding on to some of our players instead of cashing them in. Take John Stones for example. At this point the rose-tinted glasses brigade will pop up and say "he couldn't have kept us up on his own". But look at the table - we're talking margins here. We haven't had anyone to replace him, and one or two of his interventions might just have made the difference in terms of that extra point that might have kept us up. You can tell me that's rubbish. So what? It's a forum isn't it? Isn't that where we debate views? Or have i got the wrong end of the stick?
Don and the board had the chance to rectify the poor form, but waited a month too long. Saying that Hill should have gone in the summer.
Wasn't referring to your post, WT. Just to the [apparently] abusive one from FS. I agree that The Don's vibes were negative. He didn't mention that he [or "the Board"] were the ones that kept Hill on too long. I think the long and short of it is that Flicker and the lads have battled manfully since Christmas, but they're looking like they've burned themselves out, which has been my fear all along. Really hope I'm wrong.
Nope youve got the right end of the stick but if your going to put blunt statements out your going to get them back. The point of a forum. And indeed your right re stones people could say he couldnt have kept us up on his own, they could also say he could have got injured, they could also say had we been relegated we'd have been far more desperate for cash and taken a lower offer. Im no expert football negotiator but to the untrained eye £3m looks a good deal barring the timing (last minute) leaving no time for a long term solution. The first half of the season was the issue not the second and certainly not a sale which puts us in the significant black and will help us build for the future.
Couldn't agree more, Hill should have gone after the Wednesday's game BUT, we are where we are and I think Don should keep his gob shut, let Flicker and the players concentrate and see what happens. Do the commenting after the Huddersfield game Don!
Not sure what sort of future we have if we go down. The 6M we apparently stand to lose looks like more money to me than the 3M Stones fee. The vibes seem to be that Flicker's future is uncertain if we drop, and there will be further cashing in of the players, even though they are not a stellar squad as it stands. Presumably we then embark on attempting League One survival with League Two/Conference players?
Not exactly the 'glass half full' type are you? For crying out loud! I bet your a right laugh in person.
The board (all 3 of them) don't lack ambition, they lack ideas and a progressive blueprint. And they're not open to fresh eyes/voices, unless these eyes/voices are unpaid. Closed shop.
