We're both on the same points but they have a superior goal difference. We have an arguably easier final game of the season against a team who only need a point for safety. Peterborough have what looks to be a tough fixture away at Palace who may or may not need a result to secure a play off place. I really can't decide, I'd prefer to play Huddersfield but it would have been good only to have needed to match Peterborough's result.
Imagine if we needed a point at Palace to stay up and we went there and got a gutsy 0-0 draw in their away kit? I doubt any of our hearts would survive that!
If and when news filters through that Peterboro' are losing by a couple of goals it would benefit both us and Huddersfield to ease up and play out a draw.
Rather us be in Posh position. Not just because of the goal difference but because we've taken points off really good teams like Cardiff, Hull, Palace, Leicester, Watford etc yet lost to the ***** of the league like Posh, Huddersfield, Wednesday etc.
that's my worry,we usually come unstuck against teams around us..this weekend is the time to stop that trend.
ask me again at 10pm tomorrow night. if palace beat millwall tomorrow, definitely posh. without a doubt. palace will have booked their play off spot and will be resting all their best players. they will put out a very weakened team against posh, and their only concern will be not picking up injuries or suspensions. if millwall pick up any points however, i wouldn't want to be in posh's boots for exactly the opposite reason. palace will need a win to confirm their play off spot and will be all guns blazing. quite a few praying for a palace win tomorrow - i personally think that would be the worst possible result. unless they put 6 past them. so, 1-0 to palace it is then!!
However...... If Palace beat Millwall tomorrow evening, that makes their play off place certain before the Peterborough game. Additionally, there would be no need for Palace to finish third as they will play Brighton no matter what other results are. So if they do beat Millwall, I can see wholesale changes to Palace team next saturday to get them fit for the play offs. Having said all that, we have it in our own hands, win and we stay up .... end of !
Probably Posh's - so annoyed with Wednesday not taking a point at the weekend. I thought we would do it easily when I walked away from Oakwell on Saturday - just if Peterborough didn't win. I cant see them beating Palace on Saturday but think they will Draw, so in my mind we would have only needed a draw to stay up - now a draw puts us down if they draw and I had us drawing at Huddersfield - I am convincing myself we are going to be relegated on 55 points on goal difference with Peterborough, Wednesday and Millwall also all on 55! aaargghhhhh!
Going down on goal difference will be very hard to swallow, either us or Huddersfield may end up doing so though.
If, and its a big if, Palace beat Millwall and then Derby also beat Millwall, providing they do so by a combined score of net 4 goals then a draw would be good enough for us. We have scored more goals than Millwall and also won both head to heads. I think !!!
Blackburns? Peterboro because they have a better goal difference than not only us but Millwall and the fowls so they probably only need a point against a spluttering Palace side who cant win - bit like us playing Hull who also cant win We have the worst goal difference and really need to win at Huddersfield who have suddenly run into some form with 3 wins from their last 4 games but I think the fans of Millwall must be bricking it as well - they probably cant see anymore points this season and see us and Peterboro coming up at them like a train I do think that it will be one from us Peterboro or Millwall that goes down but its too close to call - could all hinge on one more last minute goal or bad decision by the officials Or we could be 3 -0 down at half time and down to 10 men and its all over
Peterboro will beat Palace, simple as that....because the results have gone for us almost all season, why would it start now. We need to win and forget about others, none haver done us favours. Just like the GITS down the M1., I am convinced they think they are safe and thus threw that one on Satdi.
Re: Peterboro will beat Palace, simple as that....because tbf, i imagine almost every club in the bottom 6 has been saying 'fcukin barnsley have done it again', for the last 3 months. if i had a choice, i would love to see us and peterborough get out of jail on the last day. i can't be doing with wee ferguson, but they've proper scrapped, just as much as we have. respect that
Ours. After Saturday, I'm convinced no other team wants to stop up as much as we do, nor do I think any bunch of players will run through brick walls for their manager as much as ours will. They know what they have to do - every other team has doubts about what's required and how to approach their games. It might all blow up, but I wouldn't swap our players and attitude for any other team in the relegation mix.
Re: Ours. agreed northern. i wouldn't want any other 17 lads in the trench with me on saturday. if they fall short, i know they will have given every ounce of sweat. i just sincerely hope all 4000 of us stay to the end, and don't start skulking away if it goes wrong
Re: Peterboro will beat Palace, simple as that....because Me too. They have had a great run and are a small club, well run. However, I think it is realistically between them and us and our best chance of survival is them losing at Palace and us getting a draw. Can see this now - news filters through of Peterborough say 2 down. We are drawing. The shackles are then off for Huddersfield as it would take a 3 goal swing at Selhurst Park to send them down. Huddersfield then score. I think that's maybe how my nightmare went last night actually, but the game was being held in Iran, as you would expect in a dream.
