If Flitcroft ends up with a relegation on his CV after the job he has done. I'm confident we can go to Huddersfield and win, but if we don't he's still done a fantastic job. Any relegation belongs to the useless ****** here for the first half of the season.
I thought they shared a car together every day true Flicker has got more out of many of the players but some signings never hardly played through injury and had Craig Davies scored against Birmingham we would be safe. Whoever the manager is next season hopefully Flitcroft we need to be aiming higher as Flitcroft said you cant just play at being a Championship club like weve been doing on and off the pitch. We need proper management cant remember last time PC spoke. Flicker could land another Championship job whatever the result next week.
The players play how the manager tells them to, Dyson. Hill was inept. The same group of players + Scotland and O'Grady have got 30+ points the second half of the season. You only have to look at the improvement in Daggers, Wiseman and Etuhu to see how out of his depth Hill was.
How many times did we criticise Hill for his team selection - playing players out of position or players who were out of form - to say nothing about the tippy tappy pass sideways and back with no penetration way we were playing - that was down to the Manager not the players Flicker has changed the system to suit the players we have - played players in their best positions - been able to change tactics part way through a game - I dont think much of the blame was down to the players Also Flicker has reduced our reliance on loans Simple Statistics for basically the same squad Hill 26 games 21 points = over a season that = 37 points and certain relegation Flicker so far 19 games and 33 points = over a season thats 80 points guaranteed playoff and a good chance of automatic promotion Travesty is too tame a word for how that will look on Flickers CV if he is the manager that takes us down - which is how the record books will show it
I also many fans dont understand the input that mickey mellon has had too, remember Flicker has not done it on his own as he freely admits...
Good call there about Micky and his Melons I think Hill should have gone before we reached december. I just cant imagine that we were all desperately waiting for Terry Butcher's decision a month later, and we really havent looked back since Flicker took the job.
When we avoid relegation on Saturday a resounding chorus f Colonel Bogey(theme from the great escape) will be the appropriate response IMO cause it fekin well will be a great escape
Hill should have gone after 10 games. We were down last season if Pompeys 10 point deduction hadn't saved us. The writing was on the wall then for me. Can't believe we kept him as long as we did but then lots of our fans were still trotting out the "believe in keith hill" ******** at Christmas when it was obvious his time was up
Tbf, there were still plenty backing him, probably up to the Wednesday game. I saw a shift after that match, then the Blackburn game was horrible and he was a dead man walking after that. Hindsights a wonderful thing, but we should have beaten Wednesday. I can understand the timing, but in terms of games we might all look back and regret not pulling the trigger a few games sooner.
We'd have been relegated this season with Hignett in charge if we'd have got shut then. Or after the Wednesday game.
